Hard to say

But sticky is definitely their middle name

It's interesting they haven't change the name after all the generations

I think I might be interested in the Conti SportContact 7 if it ever comes to the states. In the review he was impressed with them.

It's been a long time since I've had some re71's

Are those the re71RS? Hard to read it?

Yes.

Not so much a semi-slick, just a sticky road tire. 200 tw, same as the V601. Semi-slick is 60-100.

I was just going by this article which called them semi-slick.

Different idea for you. The feeling was totally transformed on my PS4Ss when I got 19X9.5 and 19X10.5 wheels. Note though that I am running 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 tires.

Since you are also in the Seattle area I would be open to having you drive my M2 and feel the difference for yourself.

The Hoosier R7 is 40 tw, and it's a slick.

To me, the term "slick" implies a competition tire, and semi-slick implies an almost competition tire.

Tires like the 888R, Trofeo R, A048, etc, are all less than 100 tw. The NT01's I'm running are 100 tw.

Standard road tires like the PS4S are 300 tw.

The 200 tw tires to me are just fast road tires, and closer to the PS4S than to the comp tires.

But I guess anyone can call any tire whatever they like.

Do your tires have the Star ⭐️ on them ?

Quite curious 🤔

At 17k miles and one track day I'm saying goodbye to my set of cup2s. I wish I had another set of wheels because I'd get more track time on them. Here is what they look like after my recent track day. They started out at slightly less than 2/32 tread on a day at CMP where I ran 90 laps ranging from quickest at 1:51 and longest at 2:08. I never had the tires rotated left to right because I didn't expect them to last this long. The insides did wear faster. I'll rotate the new set every 3500 miles and see how that helps. The new set is getting a track weekend right away so it will be interesting to see how that impacts the life.

How were they for you on the road for those 17k? Any issues with rain?

So much OPR I'm sure they were treacherous if he drove them in the rain.

They were fine in all but standing water. I drove in some decent rain and 80mph wasn't a problem. If you get quick rain to where water pools you need to slow down to about 60 and be mindful that your tires can become waterskis in an instant. Don't do quick lane changes, etc. I've driven them a lot in the rain. "Efficient" is my rain mode. I still drive in sport+ if the roads are wet.

The tires in the current state would not be safe in the rain and that is why I'm changing the. Im still driving on them until Monday, but if it rains I'll take another vehicle.

My Cup2 Connect 240 * tires are still at 5/32 after 6000 miles. Since i think that they are only 7/32 when new, I am expecting well over 10k miles before they are toast.

That's actually awesome to hear some genuine feedback

I can't stop thinking about these tires…. I've never really fallen for the 4S

I have a brand new set of wheels just sitting there waiting for me to figure out what the hell I'm gonna do

Those Cup 2 ⭐️ tires are supposed to be a very unique tire and much better than the typical Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's

They seem to be sensitive to running optimum pressure. I adjust the pressure in the winter so they start of at the beginning of ideal pressure window 36-44 psi (hot) for street since my commute is so short.

Edited: hot pressure

Sorry, hot temps. Driving on the street the Micheline track connect green zone is 36-44 psi hot.

On track at CMP the green zone is 36-41 hot. I found 36-37 psi was where I was quickest, but at 37psi I'd start overheating the tires. 36 psi hot seemed to keep the tire temps out of the "need to adjust" zone if I were on track for 20min.

Next month I'm going to make sure I get them up to 34psi hot before getting aggressive and 35psi before trying to improve my laptime. The sides wear very quickly when pressure is low. Running these with too low pressure is how they get destroyed quickly from edge wear.

Yes, running cup 2 *. They also have the DT1 on them. These are the factory tires it was delivered with.

Yeah, I've run the 4s in the past. For my style of driving the sidewalls are too soft. The Cup2 Connect * has much stiffer sidewalls. With the 4S I was trying to compensate with more air pressure but in the hot twisties it doesn't work. The Cup2s won't give the fastest track time but for use on the street and some track they are a great tire IMHO.

What is M01?

The connect sensors?

I believe it is increased load rating. DT1, sorry not M0. Got two different conversations mixed. I'll edit my previous post.
