Pilot Sport Cup 2 240 Connects

Anybody driving these tires on M2 on a stock suspension on the street?

I have a set of 4S mounted now, and they don't feel as crisp as I was really hoping for

Feedback would be highly appreciated I'm considering the newer Cup 2's as my replacements

A few of us on the F80/2 side are likely going to run the newer Cup 2s. A few guys in the thread have some feedback from their use

I think you'll be very happy with the 240 tw Cup2...for a short period of time. These competition tires lose their ultimate grip pretty quickly when used as road tires. Everyone knows that the Cup2 is chosen because of its wear characteristics on the track, but on the street they get hard fairly quickly, do don't hope for more than a season where they actually feel better than the PS4S. I don't have them myself, but I have friends in the Porsche community that get rid of them as soon as they can because after 1 season on the road they are worthless.

Well I was blessed enough to get my 4S's for free so I'm going to enjoy them to their fullest

But I'm seriously considering mounting C2 Connects on my new wheels once I get them coated

$1300 blessing. That's fantastic.

I think you'll love the Cup2 on the street, as long as you have PPF on your rockers and behind your rear wheels, or some sort of mud guards (they pick up every little stone, and with how wide the tires are compared to the body, they can really beat these areas up quickly). And if you don't drive a lot of miles. Interstates will kill these tires via heat-cycling. Short, hot in-town blasts will make the tire last longer.

I wonder if the PSS BMW Spec is a better choice than the general PS4S?

The star-spec PSS will give you a bit more feel at the limit on the front axel, but in every other way the PS4S is a superior tire, and by quite a margin.

Yeah I understand exactly where you're going with that

I don't have it on my rockers but I have it on my rear bumper

Yeah a hell of a blessing but they fucked up all four of my wheels so they're being scholar stepping up to the plate

Take a look at Goodyear eagle supercar 3.

I absolutely loved mine on street and track, very sticky, long lasting and no road noise

That's a pretty funny thing to say haha.

I'm a Michelin man myself, but I find that all tire companies are capable of making top-tier tires, and junk as well. I really like the PS4S for the road, but for the track I prefer the Trofeo, and the Supercar 3. But then again, I'm a novice driver, and they make me feel like a hero, both are just pussycats.

I've been driving my M2C on the Cup2 Connect 240s in stock size star spec meant for the CS for about 3,000 miles on stock suspension. I was contemplating coilovers but after driving with the Cup2s I'm keeping the car stock for now. They have seriously transformed the grip and they're responsive. It no longer drifts in the Twisties unless I command it. The grip is like going up tire size but without the weight or bulk. TBH I prefer the MPSS to the PS4S just because they are more crisp. The MP4S tires do have better grip than MPSS though and they're also smoother and quieter. I say Cup2 Connect for the win unless cold weather is an issue.

This is what I wanted to hear. Coil overs were seriously on my mind, Though I have slight reservations I'd just prefer Superior rubber

I live in a mildly cold region but I don't drive my car in cold weather and I rarely drive in the rain

Is it true they throw everything at the car?

Because the 240 connect tires are supposed to have a very similar compound to the 4S star tire, and they aren't to bad IMO

Some people get the Cup2 240 mixed up with the Cup2 180 which obviously has a softer compound. That being said, the Cup2 240 does pick up rocks more than the MPSS or the MPS4S. People that have followed me in the Twisties have said that my tires don't throw rocks that badly compared to soft track tires. Compared to bigger tires and wider wheels that poke, I think they are a good compromise for rock blast. I have PPF so I'm not loosing sleep.

Side note: the Cup2 240 mounted on the upcoming lightweight Apex forged wheels is what I think I'm going for. I think the VS-5RS weighs about 18 or 19 lbs.

Yeah, I have the back bumper, rocker panels and the front half of the car PPFed. The guys in front of me on twisty runs blast me with rocks. The front has been protected but the windshield is getting pitted 🙄.

The rear hips are still naked 🤭. So far I haven't seen many nicks. Most nicks have been on the factory installed PPF.

I'm wondering what the difference is…

Is the Star version only available in Connect?

Do you have the connect system working on your car ?
