Not that this is a good reason to deemphasize redline, but this M2C is an oddball IMO -- it's turbo'd, with good low-end torque, but has a fairly high redline for a turbo, more in line w/an NA motor.
That being said, having bounced rev limiters (much too) frequently in my past NA and SC'd cars, I've never hit the limiter in the M2c. Stock, it just stops pulling to the point where it doesn't feel worth wringing out to redline. I just don't find myself having to pay attention to the tach as on every past car because you can tell you're >7k and things have plateaued Read: I need a tune! |

M2 vs M is a variation that came out with the M2C. The efficiency gauges on the bottom is what the M2 and M2C came standard, however, you can turn it off on the OG M2 and on the M2C you can change it so it shows the individual customizable settings for steering and throttle which the OG M2 does not have.

I know it doesn't solve the problem at hand but hang in there people; BMW is phasing in all their clusters to be digital.
It's even easy to code them to different variants available. Below is a M340i coded to M5 cluster interface within 5 mins Alpina & i8 is also available.. |

If visibility is still an issue with the updated cluster and the obvious sound cues one gets from the engine I would suggest the steering wheel with built-in shift lights. If that doesn't help IDK what will.

Despite a love for video games, and a respecting nostalgia for traditional gauge clusters, the M340i offends both |

So it's going to be one of those take it or leave it situations pretty soon. I admit, it is an acquired taste but you get use to it after awhile and dare I say maybe even love it. |

LOL...guys funny responses. Look honestly, you can see it because it was in my dark garage. As others have said its fairly faint and I had a hard time seeing it outside. Even with the lights turned on it doesnt get brighter.
Well, at least they are there... |

Yeah, when I first got my M2C, I thought, wow, the redline isn’t very noticeable.
Less noticeable than any manual car I’ve had in the past. I’ve learned to shift when the needle gets to horizontal, about where the power drops off anyway. |

The 911 cluster has a more simplistic layout but BMW's digital setup, although it is "busy" I really don't believe it's that bad, once you get use to it. "Love" might be a strong word but I could grow to like it. I look forward to see what they do with it for the next generation M2. I'm a tech junky, so I'm hoping stuff like Night-Vision gets added in. A digital cluster pretty much set the stage for such advancements, something an analogy-like cluster could never even dream of. |

Hold up. I have a 2020 M2C (USDM / 6MT) ... I have no red lines... Am I supposed to? WTF? I always thought it was lame that it didn't light up in MDM mode like my M3.

It’s a little bit “best of both worlds” lots of torque but still the ability to make power above 7k. If you look at dyno graphs, the peak power plateaus for a good long while before actually dropping off. Now, that’s a result of BMW nerfing the engine, but they also did it in the kindest way possible. The end result is way more “area under the curve” than a 400 hp car has any right having. You can almost make peak power the entire time you’re in a gear if you’re shifting close to the redline. |
