I think this is a universal BMW thing. I was baffled as to how I was picking up under-bumper scratches since I never park anywhere near a concrete parking stop, and the front bumpers of our other cars are all scratch-free.

I finally found that the geometry of a dip in the roadway at a parking lot entrance is enough to scratch the bumper if I keep to the right while exiting to avoid a car entering at the same time.

And my current BMW is a station wagon. An M2 should be even more fun!

1M front bumper of a forum fellow - imagine how it would look with a splitter mounted:

M2 ground clearance: 123mm (stock). Mine on a steep slope (no contact):

Than you might suffer from NCS (New Car Syndrome). You are not alone, it's a common disorder which affects the majority of F87 forum members. Although there is no cure for NCS it can be managed with the support of your fellow members. NCS left untreated can be debilitating, but by sharing your experiences with others, staying clear of talking politics, religion, and most importantly making time to go on exhilarating drives you can help yourself live a normal healthy life.

I suffer from NCS so badly that I keep her locked in my garage!
Same here! Mine is so bad that I should've just left it at the dealer and kept my wallet full!

Just happened after my track day today. I was very focused when I ran the track. Then I left the track and I relaxed, went across a slope too fast. Fortunately, I can't see it from the front, but I just bought a car for a month and it hurts.

I scraped a rear wheel within a couple of weeks of ownership. When I went to get the wheel repaired, I noticed a minor paint chip on the front fender

Oh well, it sucks but what are you gonna do...

I think the best you can do at home is Dr ColorChip. Otherwise it would be bumper respray. Or just live with it since it could happen again.

Curb warning device

I have one I think from Brandmotion. Cost about $130. It gives a loud beep when you are within a settable distance from objects. Its can misread; it isn't perfect. But usually lets you ease up until the beep, giving you enough time to gently stop before contact.

let's go to dinner?!? Ok, let's park @ this new hotel garage underground, I'm not letting the Ferris Bueller valet have fun with my new car…

It's only $10 bucks and a few min walk to the restaurant

Problem was the "spiral" going down, curb edging I couldn't see well, was going grandpa speed ⚠️ but still ultimately scraped passenger wheel(s) 🤦*♂️

The steak was cooked perfectly tho… creamed spinach I could eat all week without getting tired

I think when your being extremely careful you F up, it's that simple

Damn, you like living on the edge; I have to come out and average the distance of the curb before I park. #OCD

BTW, I love that Mineral Gray color, BSM is usually my jam but lately I'm beginning to regret my choice.
That is living on the edge. I did that when I first got my car, with an MPerformance lip. I now park backwards to avoid curbs or concrete bases.

It's awkward at first but it's second nature now.

Some additional photos of the splitter and some protection I added underneath.
