997.2 Turbo vs M2C

Have any of you guys owned a 997.2 Turbo manual? I found a 2009 manual, with pretty low miles (under 45k). I'm pretty happy with my M2, but I've always wanted a 911 Turbo.

Wondering what the ownership experience has been like, from fellow BMW owners.

owned a 997.1tt 6sp. stage 2
-leather soft easy to mark
- limits on street too high to have fun with imo
-never tracked it cause scared of plastic coolant piping issue
- did my own basic maintenance demand so high that I didn't have issues when selling (w years)
-shifter is much better
-sold for more than I paid for it so can't complain
-noticable quality difference
-plan to go back to Porsche but Gt3 once I don't want a practical car

Thank you for your feedback!

Any other previous owners and their perspectives on prior history, would be great!

I have not owned the 997 TT but did extensively drive a 997.1 TT before buying the M2C. It was great, but I could not exploit its capabilities as a DD and I want more of a sleeper for my DD. If you want a weekend car in which you can blast through great (remote) roads, the 997 TT is hard to beat. For a DD, the M2C checks many more boxes for me.

As if you can "exploit its capabilities as a DD" with the M2C.

Do it 911 turbo is one of the best all around cars year after year, another step or two up from a M2c. The only downside is the interior and tech is a lot more dated because well it's an older car.

Tough call as they are very different cars. I owned a .1 / 2008 turbo before going GT3 never looking back.

2009 997.2 still has the iconic and sought after Mezger engine. As mentioned coolant lines can be a concern. They can be fixed at a relatively low cost.

The car is a blast to drive, although AWD, suspension set up and lack of exhaust music numb the ride a bit. Gobs of low and mid range power though. The car is a dream in fast mountain sweepers.

I believe the 997.2 turbos switched over to the DFI engine. The GT3/RS's and GT2RS still had the mezger but the turbo's switched over.

The 2010 .2 did receive DFI and integrated dry sump losing the Mezger's true dry sump and other more robust internals. The 2009, although also a .2 retained the Mezger engine. Odd, but that's what Porsche chose to do.

Yes, regarding the GT3s and RSs. I owned a .2 GT3 with the Mezger. 2011 was the last. No 2012-2013. 2014 brought the 9A1 to the GT3/RS.

And, of course PDK was not offered until 2010.
