I was going back and forth with the idea of PPF, always leaning towards getting it.

When I got the car, it's the first thing I scheduled. I didn't want to regret not getting it and having to live with regret.

Scheduled PPF for the first Monday after getting the car.... took a chance and drove the car the weekend before and got a tiny chip/gouge right by the front BMW roundel.

It's smaller than the head of a Q-tip and most people can't see it but I can. I notice it every single time I look at it now. I can only imagine how regretful I'd feel if the front end was sandblasted by rock chips in a few thousand miles.

So now it sits in my garage as I await Dr. Colorchip's touch up paint to arrive and I had to push back my PPF Installation.

It almost kills me more because I already had it scheduled but still got a chip right before the installation. Not what I wanted to deal with within 200 miles, oh well, what can you do.

At least I'll be preventing anything else.

My philosophy is that finding paint chips is like piercing the toast.

Same thing with new car, if you put Xpel on a brand new built car the next day, you will likely peel the paint too. However most of the time the car is around 3-6 months away from production when it reaches the buyer. By that time paint is already cooked and safe for Xpel.
Of course you can install the PPF on a non OEM paint jobs, I’m saying these companies won’t warranty their films on repaints. I’m a professional in this field.

I don’t think it’s worth it unless you literally are never selling it. Selling it even 4-5 it’s from now everyone expects a few chips etc and I always think cost of ownership. Love the car but it’s a car. And you won’t get that money back. I’d rather go on a vacation with family and have memories.

Unless i have unlimited money which i don’t.

If I've already gotten full-car PPF installed, and I plan on going to the track in a few weeks, do I need any additional protection? I was thinking about buying some of the "track tape" products, but I'm wondering if I even need it?

My car is in for xpel ppf today until Wednesday. Full bonnet and bumper with wing tips. Rear panel quarter to swage line and splash protection on edge of sills front and back and kick up protection on rear bumper and luggage lip on the rear bumper.

I could have gone all out on sills and wings but this has got me 90% protection for 2/3 of the cost so that is about right for me.

I went back and forth over this decision as well. This would be the first car ever to get PPF....

When I first started looking I was thinking about a Stealth look which meant full car and that was going to run 7-8k in my area from the best places available. I just couldn't justify that amount of money. But now that he is here and I see that beautiful LBB paint that changes in every angle... I would lose my mind if a chip happened and I knew I could have prevented it. My OCD would haunt me!

So I am dropping him off today for ppf (full front, mirrors, rocker panels and rear) as well as ceramic coating and tint with 10 year warranty. @menardpremiumdetailing

Check out their instagram, they do amazing work and Grant the owner is a real stand up guy. My brand new baby will be gone for a week but after that ... I've been afraid to drive him except the 70 miles from the dealership.

I just dropped my 2020 M2C off for PPF. I did full front including bumper, hood, fenders and headlights.

I contemplated removing and extending the OEM rear quarter panel PPF, but I couldn’t decide what would be best aesthetically. I probably should’ve added coverage on the rear bumper as well but couldn’t bring myself to spend anymore lol.

What are you guys doing for the rear quarter panels as far as replacing/extending the OEM section?

I just had mine done: PPF on front end, headlights & mirrors, rockers, bottom 2" of doors, replacement of OEM one with larger area and rear bumper cover around kick up areas.

Then Ceramic coating over entire car.

$$$

I know the ROI is not even close, especially since I never keep cars more than 3 years, but chips drive me bonkers.

the fitter can take the Xpel rear panel and cut off the top by the swage line in the door. So you get full panel coverage without paying for a load of wastage

PPF only on the front bumper.

I ceramic coated entire car and wheels using Gyeon product. Once the PPF cures I coat it too along with the windows.

Do this for rear quarter panels. The body line of car hides the seam from most angles, and the oem piece looks like shit anyway.

I just picked mine up today from https://www.thespecialistsdetail.com/ and it’s a noticeable improvement from the correction and ceramic coating. The PPF area in the rear flares was enlarged too.

There was a HS M2C in the shop getting the same treatment as well as a cf spoiler. That car has a bad ass steering wheel with the blue buttons and a blue start button too. AND a keyhole cover panel on the door handle. I need all that stuff now.

Oh yeah, there was an Audi R8 that they were fixing that another shop totally screwed up on. A $1700 job that had tons of overspray and even pooling on the rims. Its going to cost a ton of money, like over $20k to fix all the damage from a poor ceramic and paint correction job.....so make sure you do your research on the shop if you go that route.

Has anyone on this forum installed the Xpel Stealth PPF? What are the pros and cons? I know it is a matter of preference in looks, and some people will like it and others will hate it, but are their any disadvantages, etc.?

Me too at first. I saw this HS M2C video that was PPF'd with Stealth, and it turned it into a mat finish. Looked pretty good on the video, but not sure how it looks in real life.
