I ran track days on both RS29s and stock pads and I am now in a position where I would really like to avoid swapping between them all the time. I know there is no perfect answer here and the more I'm aggressive on the track I will need race pads but I would like to hear recommendations for pads that are acceptable for track days and don't squeal that much on daily use.

Ferodo DS2500 has been the most popular pads for us for those not looking to swap pads and still want to improve track day brake performance.

Dust level will fall right between OE and RS29 and noise will be less. On some applications the DS2500 is noise-free.

I use DS2500 on the street. They’re great as an aggressive street pad, but very dusty.

If you drive more than 8/10s on the track, you’ll overheat the DS2500 and crack the pad/melt deposits on the rotor. If you start to feel some judder, bring her in and check your front pads.

I use the DS11s for the track. They last longer than the Uno’s and the Uno’s have a much worse release IMO.

I've got EBC yellow installed, for now quiet on the street (wich I expected) and I have a track event on October 7 that is very taxing on the brakes, I will report back.

Ferodo DS2500 ideal inbetween for what you are looking for...

Other good options: EBC yellow for a bit less warm up issues... Brembo HP sport again for the same reason...

I've been using MX72 for quite a while.

Initial bite is about the same but it lasts for much longer on track. Has some dust but is much better than OE.

The downside however, is after its first time track use, it's got quite noisy on street.

EBC Yellow I wasn't impressed about.

The guy I bought my M2 from was running track pads on his M135i Ring tool. They are called "Special Brakes", a little company next to the Nurburgring. The pad he was running:
front : SB12
rear : SB11

SB11 is the softer compound. They made zero noise on the street.

Good street/track brake pad is not really possible. Two very different kinds of demands for braking so at best you end up with fairly substantial compromises. Even though its a little bit of a pain to do it is best to use a dedicated track pad and a dedicated street pad and set aside a couple of hours for track prep before each event. I have a quickjack so I have my prep time down to about an hour so not bad.

If anyone is looking to do an aggressive street pad and track pad option, using Ferodo DS2500 on the street and DS1.11 on the track don't require bed-in when switching pads.

I have Stoptech Sport. They held up at the track without issues and they produce less dust on the street compared to OE pads. No noise whatsoever. They are relatively inexpensive.

That’s a tough one for me to answer, as most all my pad experience is for the track.

I’ve only tried the DS2500 as an alternative street pad, mostly bc I’m running the AP BBK and Ferodo makes it easy to switch bn street and track pads. The DS2500 has great street performance, but you’ll definitely want your wheels ceramic coated so all the dust comes off easy!

Different but related, for the track a lot of guys use Pagid. I’ll ruffle some feathers here, but I think the Pagid’s are terrible. They can’t stand up to heavy abuse, and pedal feel isn’t that great. PFC is much better (I prefer the 11), and the Ferodo DS11’s are just as good. I don’t care for the Ferodo Uno’s, as they don’t release very smoothly.

The reason I swap out the stock pad on street is for less dust. DS2500 would be instantly disqualified for that. BTW, I think BSM/MG M2 actually looks very good with the dusty wheel. But LBB/AW don't.

I've been using MX72 for 10 months. It'd been all great (good initial bite, less dust, quiet and heat resistant) until seeing its first track day - it became too noisy for street ever since. And I want to change.

I think I may try one of the more streetable Endless soon.

I’ve always been under the impression that you can’t have your cake and eat it too when it comes to brake pads. The more bite, friction, and thermal performance you want, the more dust and squealing you’ll get.

Maybe the answer to this question is simply based on each individual’s specific wants.

I can now confirm the EBC Yellow is barely ''Ok'' for track duty, they did not leave uneven deposits like stock pads but I melted them 50% in 1.5 track days.

Plus following my friend in is M2 with Pagid I could never use is braking points I was clearly running out of braking power.

Fluid was fresh Gurf RF1000.

Track Season is now over for us so I will have all winter to think about my next pads.. For those who have actually used both PFC and Pagid, how would you compare them ?
