Just had this issue happen to me twice today with my LCI’s left turn signal. The turn signal flashes quickly and I get the error on the dash. Cycling the turn signal off and back on cleared it both times.

If anyone gets this figured out please post!

its a known issues with the lights - it happened in my car as well, took it too the dealer and they swapped the whole light out under warranty. So that would be my advice

The master technician told me its a problem with the car's grounding that would short the taillight. Apparently BMW has been struggling with this since the E46.
Make sense... but it's so odd BMW alone faces this problem out of all the manufactures. Especially if it's been around since the E46.
Seems m2 complaints are only on LED LCI tail lights.

Just an update. After having my right taillight replaced, I'm going in on Saturday to replace my left taillight. Same issue as the previous right taillight.

Just happened to me. I tried it a couple more times and then turned on the hazards to see if it would still flash fast. It stopped flashing fast after I put on my hazards.

Mine hasn’t done it again since I first posted back in September. Weird.

Reviving this thread to note that I have been having the same issue. Took it to the dealer who did nothing but charge the battery because the car was reporting it as a low voltage fault (shrug). It stopped for about a week but started again today. Will be taking it back later this week.

This just happened to me a few days ago - cycled the signal and it cleared itself a few times but is coming back intermittently. I also need to head back to the dealer to get my defective horn replaced.

Mins hasn’t had a problem for over six months. We will see what happens when summer temperatures come.

The dealer did nothing at my one year service. Said the error codes were too old to act on.

Mine has happened once since I purchased the car in April, but hasn't come back up. During it's next visit for service I'll bring it up to the SA to take a look over.

Well, took mine to the dealer again on Friday. Of course the car would not show the fault while I was driving it to the dealer. The dealer was initially unable to replicate the fault until the turn signal just dies. As a result, they replaced the entire assembly.

Indicator fault LCI

Took mine to the dealer in the UK Vines of Crawley and they noticed the fault codes on both side. I also showed them evidence with Video that I had managed to capture.
They checked out the wiring and connectors but did not change out the units ?
They gave the car a software upgrade and said this should fix it ?
I think that when the damp cold weather returns to the UK it will happen again!

Hi Andrew,

I have the same problem on my 2014 320i xdrive , initially it was just showing me the left rear turn signal and now the rear break lamp as well. Dealer is suggesting to replace the entire taillamp for 560$ . can you suggest me options

Also did the LCI tail light retrofit so I'm aware of what it's like back there.

Those exposed harness wires could definitely become loose or get wet and short out. I made sure to tape mine up before reinstalling them to prevent any moisture from getting in.

Since you're presumably out of warranty and paying out of pocket I would suggest going on ebay or looking in the classifieds section of the forum to see if you can find the part you need (used) in order to do a cheap replacement and be on your way...

...or if you want you could have some fun and use this opportunity to retrofit the LCI tail lights

Going OEM is rather expensive on the F3X:

If you want a cheaper aftermarket option you could go DEPO:

I have a suspicion that it is a coding problem.
