Lol yes I guess the DP does add to the effect but it definitely spools faster and feels much cleaner with the DP

The exhaust is a different animal all together and comes from a. Completely different area on the car

You still can via the Bluetooth controller, as many times as you want until your hearts content and until you switch the ignition off. When you start the car again you have to arm the system again from the button in boot - that's the pisser!

Excuse my french, but fuck this new design

Hoping someone will come with a fix for this or I'm just going to extend the cable right from the trunk to the center dash even if it means dismantling half the car

The instructions show two different retrofit kit numbers and the official BMW instructions clearly show the retro kit no.18302454297 - to be red button installation only.
From this, I would assume you have the choice to either install with or without the red button.
Although, I have been in contact with the OP and that install was done via independent / not BMW and independent was unable to get the module to respond without installation of the red button??
All very odd and yes, it's a right PITA.
Did you get the one with out the red button?

Damn. Due to this, I was tempted to pick up the older MPE. Looks like it is too late.

The picture is from this thread. This is the the button with the modified cable adapted by a guy on the 2er forum

BishUK Doesn't the AWRON gauge only control the flaps with stock exhaust? Much like the macht schnell module or the bimmerlink app?

Here is the original post, translate to English for some clarification

"Brücke de Stecker" translates to bridge the plug, "Sw + sw and gr + br" is what you're supposed to do.

Is it possible to have MPE valve open/close with c/s/s+ switch like the factory one? Which seems a perfect solution to the two known issues - 1) red button with new MPE and 2) valve closes randomly with old version due to BT interference.

BTW, I have the old MPE and had already valve permanently open via unplugging module under the trunk. Probably that can be a fix to red button issue with the new version.

Yep
That's nuts!!! What would the reasoning be behind this revision? Is that the only change? I'm wondering if the exhaust sounds the same (as old) otherwise? Is the drone eliminated? Sounds like the rattle at start up is still present. So many unanswered questions.

I don't really understand why nobody sees the reason they did this. It is to stop people from opening it on the street at random.

This is kind of absurd if you ask me. The point of the Bluetooth control module is to open/close the valve. Now you're just making people get in and out of the car twice before driving; Kind of a ridiculous design IMO.

Can anyone confirm any other change besides this stupid red button? I've had the old MPE for about 8 months now and have loved it the whole time due to the versatility the Bluetooth module brings. It completely changes the car open/closed. I love being able to change the attitude of the car on the fly. At red lights I can open it and it brings the animal out it's kind of insane that they did this.

Any change to the sound the MPE provides now? No fix to the rattle? All they did was add a button that makes you get up everytime you drive now? Whatttttttt the fuuuuhhhh??

1. The reasoning for the revision is to protect BMW as far as I can see .

The exhaust in track mode is super loud and aggressive and definitely not legal in the noise emissions in the U.K.

This allows them to sell it to you and not have to make it quieter !

2. Drone is still there at 3000 rpm even in comfort mode with flaps closed

3. Rattle of tips on cold start still present

Hope that helps answer your queries

Finally despite these points I love this exhaust and definitely recommend it as once you have driven it in track mode there is no going back it is insane .

I came from a M4 competition with M performance exhaust and it is was nowhere near as good as this
