The Delrin is fantastic. It machines so well it feels super smooth and metal like, but it's not cold to the touch like metal knobs are.

Good in cold weather 4-6 months of the year.

2nd that, the machined finish of the Raceseng Delrin feels very nice and whilst smooth it isn't slippery, the Status Gruppe Delrin Racing knob I tried for a while has a more polished/glossy finish and just didn't feel right imo.

As for install, I think this job is likely beyond my capability as a DIY hobbyist, and I'd also like to do the CDV delete at the same time. So, I'll likely take it to an indy BMW specialist to do the work.
chief1richard , I didn't end up asking Ron for an update, but I just received (and paid) the invoice from Ron. I suspect shipping will follow soon after.

Same here. Should arrive soon. Can't wait to start the install.

Question, does the UCP require you to use the included clutch stop? Or will using the stock clutch stop be okay? Thanks!

Installed the UCP, looking for a shop to install the AS SSK.

The UCP is fantastic. Just having the pedal sit a little lower is worth the cost of admission. Shorter throw and more positive clutch engagement is just icing on the cake. Well worth the money.

That said, I've almost never had a more frustrating install experience. Could do it in half the time now that I've done it once, but would still probably pay someone to do it again

Installed my Autosolutions Ultimate Short Shifter kit today. Did the install myself. I can't believe the difference. Solid rifle bolt like action, with no play whatsoever. Well worth the money. This is the way this shifter should have come from the factory.

Nice isn't it!

I'ver run other SSK's in previous cars and none of them were even close to Ron's product.

The other ones feel "cheap" compared to his..

Absolutely, Ron is a real craftsman that loves what he does. Makes great shifters. That comes through when you talk to him on the phone.

How was the install? Got any words of wisdom? I'm considering tackling this myself this spring/summer.

What shift reduction percentages did you guys go with? I think I might go 10-15% since I like having a more open feel.

Thanks for the input, if you're willing could you capture a short video of the shifter throws?

The install was a lot of work, but nothing complicated. I like to work on my own car, and get a sense of satisfaction doing the work myself. I used a Quick Jack Lift in my garage which gave me good clearance. Jack Stands on all four corners would work just as well. Researched the entire procedure before I started, which involved Autosolutions Web Page instructions that had all the information on how to do the install, (well almost). There is an excellent video on this thread, #72 which shows the actual install. Pull shifter knob and gaiter off, push down rubber boot. Under car remove underbody panels, and heat shields. Remove transmission and drive shaft cross braces. remove exhaust system and slide out of way (5 bolts). Disconnect drive shaft Flex-Joint and Mid section Drive Shaft bearing support. Place Drive Shaft off to side. Disconnect shifter arm assembly by disconnecting rear bushing (2bolts) and 2 transmission arm forward bushing pins (described in instructions). Remove entire shifter from below. Assemble new shifter as per video, and reverse prceedure.
Here's some photos

Thank you! Did you remove the flex disc to get a little extra room? It looks like they left it installed to the transmission in the Brintech video earlier in this thread. Also, did you replace the screws and nuts connecting the flex disc to the trans/prop shaft?

Install really doesn't seem too bad, just time consuming. I'll probably give it a try in a few months.

Yes removed flex disc and used low grade loctite to reinstall bolts but recommend getting 6 new nuts. Install was not difficult, just attention to detail. Take some pictures for ease of reassembly. Also drive shaft support remove and slide shaft out of way do not remove rear of shaft.

Getting ready to install an Auto Solutions SSK and trying to figure out which hardware I'll need to replace

According to the TIS it looks like the flex disc can remain attached to the front of the driveshaft when removing

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ion/1VnYrsHP3W

If this is the case I'll need 3 of each of the following

Hex Bolts - 26117527475

Self Locking Hex Nuts - 26127536563

However, if the flex disc needs to be separated from the driveshaft I'll need 6 of each

Any thoughts?

The flex disc was left attached to the transmission in the install video earlier in this thread. I agree with you that NewTIS appears to leave the disc attached to the drive shaft side. Either way, it sounds like you would only need 3 sets of bolts/nuts unless you decided to replace the flex disc as well.

You Can leave the flex Disc on, it is not needed to remove it. I have large hands and found it easier to remove it for my access, but not needed.
