I don't recommend this to anyone but for cleaning, I use this https://www.oakley.com/en-us/product/WA4230001NC It has removed spots and the microfiber that comes with it hasn't scratched my cluster. My only cluster scratches are from personally being a dumb ass... I wasn't aware of how delicate this surface is so the very first time I used a Starbucks napkin.... big mistake. Lucky though, the marks aren't visible unless its in direct sunlight and maybe a placebo, the solution I used makes them appear less severe.

I was able to keep the instrument cluster and piano black trim around the centre console scratch-free for almost 18 months before my local BMW dealer scratched them up. With the COVID-19 guidelines in place, they disinfected the interior by wiping it down with a disinfectant and by doing so scratched those surfaces. It's not too bad but it does bother me a bit.

This might work... it's meant for plastic eyeglasses and it has filling properties so it won't remove any scratches but make them less noticeable.

Taking a page from the eyewear and lab optics industry, I had good success cleaning with these two products.
1/ I sprayed the solution onto the Kimtech tissue to dampen. 2/ Then very very lightly dabbed a small area, then using new section of tissue. 3/ Repeat with a new lightly damp tissue until a flashlight shows it is clean - there might be a trace of moisture, it'll evaporate. Never dry tissue! no side to side! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075L9ZTPB...ing=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051QFSCI..._NX3NKiisV9E4g s) |

So I actually tested this on another car before using it on the M2 I haven't used it in the M2 yet because of the cons below.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0863KL6TJ...ing=UTF8&psc=1 Pros: picks up dust and lint, conforms to irregularly shaped surfaces and small crevices, cheap (price) Cons: LEAVES A RESIDUE, does an OK job of cleaning, cheap (quality). I also have the below gel stick that I use for my camera's sensor but I haven't used on the car yet because it's tiny, so it would take forever to do the whole gauge cluster. If the above product is more like the sensor gel stick, I think it would be a better product overall. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0046VBEE0...CA2SZJD3W1D726 Last edited by (K); 07-04-2021 at 05:26 AM.. |

Any compressed air recommendations? Obviously tons of options out there, but some of the compressed air cans I've had in the past end up squirting a small amount of solution out when being used, which I can't imagine would be great for the reasons discussed in this thread!

(Old thread, I know. But still a relevant topic for owners I think.)

Hello, I have a G20 with a dashboard similar to yours (matte), I also scratched it (it was reassuring to know that it wasn't me but that it has also happened to other people). Does anyone know any ppf for this model?
Or another solution to this problem |
