M2 PS stage 2 + XDI + Meth

Hello guys, Ive owned my 2017 m2 for about 2 years now, i installed Pure turbos stage 2 turbo about 2 months ago, using bootmod3 and gathering data and doing dyno runs, the car only managed to get 450bhp and 700nm on 98 RON which is what is more convenient and widely used here and most premium in the UAE.

im still gathering datalog and sending it back and forth with the tuner but overall the numbers are underwhelming.

Full Mods:
- PureTurbos Stage 2 turbo
- XDI 35 fuel pump
- Aquamist meth injection through chargepipe 51/49
- Armytrix downpipe
- Full Fi exhaust
- recently upgraded from wagner evo l to csf 5" fmic
- Evolution racewerks chargepipe
- Cold spark plugs

The car was dynoed at dynodynamics dyno and mustang dyno showing close results. SAE smoothing.

At the moment im deciding on getting a custom 3.5inch exhaust, any idea how i could run the set up to be more efficient powerwise?

thanks!

I wouldn't bother with an exhaust but a high flow downpipe will definitely help(Apologies, I missed the DP when reading over your list) I still stand by the statement that a catback will not help though. Overall 450whp isn't anything to sneeze at and in line with most people's real world power figures. The guys making 500+ whp are really pushing the turbo very, very hard.

OP,

I set up my friend's M2 in 2018 the same (FBO PS2 + Meth) as your car minus the XDI pump, which isn't really needed on OTS map, no mention of even having meth support. Meth turned on or off, we saw 410ish whp on dynojet, benchmark being 340whp stock. The boost tapers off to 15ish psi up top as programmed, but to our test with JB4, each pound of boost nets about 10~13whp, given the strong octane support by meth and thus no loss of ignition. We knew it's very difficult for the N55 EWG to get close to 500whp (dynojet) without really maxing out the hybrid turbo.

One good example is my then-N55-1/4 mile-world-champion friend (11.11@125mph). The day he and I went to dyno our cars, we first did a couple 100-200kph pulls, he saw high 6s (absolutely in shape). Only for the champion to see a hearbreaking 460+whp as the best number out of 4 proper pulls on the roller. Log shows an excellent 25psi peak to 22 redline, with timing maxed out all the time.

I hope you did your benchmark run and took logs properly. Adjust your expectation. Focus only on the delta. Have fun!

Also said he used a Mustang dyno, which shows lower hp readings compared to a Dynojet.

if you want big power...ditch the ps2's and go with a aftermarket big turbo kit like big boost or speedtech. there bunch of guys easily hitting 600whp+ so closer to 700bhp.

rktunes hit 800bhp with a m235i with a bigboost kit.

Why do you all keep giving numbers in BHP. unless you're talking stock numbers quoted by bmw, or you pulled your engine and put it on an engine dyno, any BHP number you give will just be a calculation from WHP.

WHP is a much better indicator particularly if youre comparing multiple runs (stock vs. Modified) on the same dyno.

Because other countries like the EU countries, they use bhp as a measure of power.

whp is just a calculation from a particular brand of dyno...hence why you get different whp numbers between a mustang dyno and a dynojet even though there both in whp.

I just gave numbers in bhp since the OP understand power in bhp and not whp.

but end of the day bhp or whp doesnt matter long as you know the delta between your mods based on the same dyno.

My point is, you can't even get BHP without measuring output at the flywheel. And unless you're ripping the motor our, you won't get that.

Most dynos people use are going to give you WHP. If they show BHP, it's just a calculation on assumed drive train loss, which isn't consistent.

Agree it doesn't matter for comparison, but you also have to assume that the dyno operator didn't adjust the drive train loss percentage.

Its just a number lol...i just referenced bhp to help the OP out.

Everyone likes to use their own form of measurement.

Just like the rest of the world asks us, why do we use US imperial units versus metric which logically makes more sense since its in power of 10 instead of random measurements

Aren't those numbers a bit low compared to other PS2's we've seen? I was expecting PS2 to yield anything closer to mid 500's from what I've seen around.

Did you purchase and install the inlet pipe for the turbo?

Peter has seen as much as a 40 hp difference with one installed vs stock.

Hey, yeah im not gonna bother with the exhaust, although what i did is , remove the Fi exhaust resonator, for now the car seems to suffer from boost leak, the car isnt hitting the boost target, hovering around 16psi.

as in for the numbers, the car preforms really well on the street, translates to holding up with a c7 z06 with headers and tune, the vette passes me around 200kmh and stays around a car length from me. ( running 18 psi at the time )
only had the car on dynodynamics dyno and dynomustang with SAE smoothing. that explains the why the numbers are much lower than Pureturbos claim on the turbo itself.

Z06 got 690PS on the dyno while the m2 achieved around 450PS with 700nm same dyno.

note that z06 is manual.

Thank you brother, read your comment while back just couldnt reply yet, been busy with the car, id be happy to send you the datalogs as im using bootmod3 to tune the car and its really easy to collect data, im working with jordantuned to tune the car , boost leak issue we just had is slowing the progress, but till now we've only pushed 21.6psi, ill start getting dragy times to compare to other m2's hopefully soon.

The car is much faster than stock its just that with the current set up achieving 500whp seems impossible on heavy dynos, ill take the car to a happy reading dyno and see how it reads there.
