It really just comes down to the price. If it's over 80k EUR I'm out.

The M235i starts at 60k EUR and the M4 at 100k EUR, so I'm expecting it to be between.

That if the specs meet the expectations of the reveals so far.

Hey, I mean, I'm not really considering it myself. I'm just throwing it out there and as you can see in the thread, some users are responding very positively towards the GT350. And sure... maybe it looks like a whale shark.

A damn beastly whale shark, if you ask me...

^ still a shark sorry. The front air intake is disproportionately larger when compared to the headlights.
I'm glad you're not really considering it.
I'll relent on the American Muscle exhaust note. THAT we can only dream about

Swung into the audi dealership on the way out of town earlier and saw this gorgeous B8 RS4 in Suzuka grey... What a car!! I found myself thinking this is probBly the perfect all rounder car, plenty of room and doors for kids that may appear, very muscular arches, Quattro for the UK weather and a glorious V8 soundtrack!

They were just about to close but a test drive night well be in order...

This is exactly why BMW needs to do an F81. I'd buy that over an M2 for sure.

Currently visiting local dealerships as my wife shops for a new crossover. Seeing the ADM tags on everything from Dodge Challengers to Ford Explorers really put me off. I don't think I can do business with these folks. At the higher end of the market they may be gouging but I don't see ADM stickers at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, or Lexus. Ford has some interesting things coming out. I really don't know if I can do business this way though. Too bad the brick and mortar dealerships purchased all the politicians so we can't buy online.

So what will keep me from an M2?

My love of the 135.
I love my 135i too, but trust me, no matter how much money you spend on it, its still not M car. Mine is exactly 5 years old now, and i am ready to replace it with M2. The only one thing will prevent me from buying it, is if its not much cheaper($15K or more)than m3/m4. If its within $10K, i would just get the real thing.
So, yeah, as many stated here, it all comes down to $$$$

The American car buying experience must be dreadful. We are so fortunate ADMs are not legal in Canada. And still people come in with the walls and guard HIGH from cliché car shopping stories and experience.

My dealership prides it self on "true pricing" units. No hidden fees, expected money down or finance credit.

You sell a lot more cars if you don't have to fuck around negotiating. Full pull is where it is at.

I can only assume ADMs are needed because there are thousands of dealerships and so much competition, one needs to price high to end up at MSRP rather than risk going below it?

If the M2 turns out to a a limited production (I know, currently the consensus is not), dealer-gauging affair, I'm out. I felt the same way about the 1M. I would have bought one at MSRP, but not with a $5K mark-up. It's not even the money, it's the principle and feeling good about the purchase. If that happens I'll purchase an F8X...or a 997.1 TT...or a 997.2 GTS...or a F-type V6 S manual...maybe I'll even look at a manual ATS-V or C7. If the RS3 were to be offered with a manual, I would be very interested (yeah, I know ).

Well they missed the target, I drove a 2015 GT - MT today and it's not even close to an e92 in any regard. The new interior is pretty nice by previous standards, but it might even be a little over done for my tastes.

It didn't have that road feel, didn't feel balanced. Power wise, maybe about right, but it didn't feel anxious to go like the e92.

I'm starting to waffle on the GT350 now, not nearly as gung-ho as I was this morning.

Am I the only one that would prefer a more aggresive version of the ZF like the ones on the X5M/X6M instead of the DCT? The feel you get from getting kicked in the back whenever you shift is just so much fun compared to a DCT.

Have you ever driven a F80/2 with the DCT in mode 3?

The shifts are brutal!

I was on track in a Dinan tuned M5 with DCT a few weeks ago (700hp?). Trust me, the DCT will kick you from behind all you want, brutal acceleration!

Yeah this ^^ DCT can be much more aggressive than the torque converter ZF.

My next vehicle is looking like a choice between the M2, or the new upcoming Raptor.

What would keep me from getting the M2?
Well, obviously if I choose the Raptor. I'm not in a position to get both. Otherwise.. If the price gets too up there.
An m3 here starts at 74k with no boxes and no tax(12%), and a 235i starts at about 45k no boxes no tax. I am not really interested in spending more than somewhere in the middle of those 2.

If the price is about equal to the Raptor. I may have a hard time choosing the M2 over the Raptor. Unfortunately with the current Raptor sitting at about 60k no boxes/no tax... It seems likely that the M2 might be in that ballpark. I absolutely loved my previous Raptor. So the M2 would have to really be amazing to sway me.

But who knows, I'll reserve judgment for when I see what the M2 is actually going to look like, and what the real world spec's turn out to be. From what I can tell so far, it sounds like it's going to be a very exciting car in just the right size.

Or if production is too limited, as I don't intend to buy for a while. Then Raptor it is. I won't be pre ordering right away. I am curious how many years the M2 would run?

Anyway, really hard to say at this point as info on the M2 is very scarce and they are really throwing no bones at all. I'm craving more info/images. And pricing isn't out yet for the new Raptors.

The M2 would be my first BMW.
I'm not a fan boy of any particular brand, although I am admittedly enjoying Fords current line up. I've cross shopped pretty much everything, from everywhere.. If it interests me, I'll consider it. I cross shopped Trucks, hatchbacks, SUV's, coupes, sedans. American, European, Japanese... I really don't care about those details. It's about driving pleasure, meeting my needs, and falling within my budget.

Current wheels - 2014 Fiesta ST & an old Harley. Previously owned a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS and a 2010.5 SVT Raptor with the half year upgrade to the 6.2L

The main possibilities that would take an M2 off my list would be if it was priced too high or if it was MT only. If you don't mind a heavier, larger car, the 2016 Camaro is going to be hot stuff with a Stingray drivetrain.

So I was at the Performance Center and got to play with some cars today, including the M235i and M3.

To be honest, while the M3 was good fun, it's officially off my list. This is the second time I've driven an M235i and an M3/4 back to back and I keep coming away almost more impressed with the 2er.

I will admit I only got the play with the M3 on a wet skid pad (and not a full course), but it just feels big to me still. This always happens when I'm coming from other cars (M235i, E36, E92). Brakes and power was fantastic though.

Having said that, the M235i impressed me on the autox course. The steering feel/weight is nowhere as good as the M3 (hoping the EPS will be from the M3/4 on the M2), but I loved how balanced the car was. Power at "only" 340 or whatever they make was fine for me.

For what it's worth, the instructors are super excited about the M2 too. I really really cannot think how badly BMW would have to screw up for me to not buy one. I'm sold before the car is even released!

^^^the F80 is off your list ???

Trade cars with me for a week - I will meet you at the Tail of the Dragon - my bone stock 235 with a MT is yours to play with for an entire week, including the Dragon - at which, when you are taking a corner that isn't perfectly smooth in the 235, and you realize/fear that death is imminent because the car is going to just fall off the mountain, you will be begging for the E92 to be returned to you.

I keep wondering if I have a 235 that was built on a Friday with drunken workers, because my experience hasn't been in line with what others have loved on the car. It really is a better looking, slightly bigger version of the E82. The F80, to me, is on such a different level, specifically in the chassis, suspension, and brakes department (as you mention) - to the point that I don't drive quickly on curvy roads in my 235. I feel that unconvinced in the car's abilities. On my last M4 test drive, I was taking turns in the F82 at 75 that I don't dare go over 60 in my 2er.

The M2, which will get the M3 chassis, suspension, and brakes, will definitely not have that problem, which is a really good thing.
