ED window?

Build date...

Hi everyone,
Finally got a build date for my M2c of June 5.
Does anyone know if that is set in stone or is there any leeway on the pickup date; say, a day or two either side?
I'm thinking there must be with possible flight delays: cancellations etc.,
Any input appreciated.

Did you provide BMW NA with your list of desired ED dates? If they accept your date, they typically will have the car ready at least a week before you are due at Welt. The M2C isn't built in Munich, so they have to rail or truck it there. My car was finished at least two weeks before my scheduled ED date. I would call BMW Special Sales if you have any questions. Don't trust the "experts" online. Go to the source... BMW Special Sales at 800-932-0831 or email bmwspecialsales@bmwna.com

In my case, the build week was determined AFTER one of my preferred delivery dates was confirmed.

When my delivery date and time were confirmed, I got an email from ED team. this is what it said about date changes

Date Changes - Due to a high volume of European Delivery orders, there is no guarantee that your customer’s requested dates can be accommodated. Please notify us immediately via email if the check-in time or date conflicts with your customer’s itinerary. In your email request please make sure that the customer’s name, production number and new delivery date request are included. Date changes that are submitted on the Purchase Order will not be accepted. Additionally please note that only 2 date change requests may be processed per customer.

I made two slight modifications after my initial time pick and they were pretty accommodating about it. But yes, they will slot you in around existing filled-in slots, and if there aren't any available, then... well, I guess you are out of luck.

Your production date is different than your ED date. Which are you asking about?

Your pick up date, once you have a confirmation from ED department at BMW NA, is usually set in stone. That being said it can be moved if you know far in advanced about a conflict but no guarantee they can move it to your desired new date. Lastly, if you need to change it a day or two before, it likely won't be possible without BMW NA involvement and some luck finding an availability slot. My advice, arrive the morning before if possible to control for any potential delays. Plus your body will thank you for it after getting a full night's sleep before pickup.

I'm referring to the "build" date. I've been given the run around the last few weeks. Originally told early May so booked vacation etc., At the last minute told Build date May 22nd which was impossible for me.
Asked about a new date, first available from second week of June....
Got a call from SA on April 1st saying that a build date was available in my original window. Tried repeatedly to get a firm date and today was told they were wrong and now June 5th.. Not any of my preferences.
Probably have to fly there, get the car, drive for a day or two then drop it back.
Not ideal but really wanted ED.
So if I understand things correctly, if you fail to show on the assigned day - for whatever reason - you lose the car? Seems harsh🙀🙈

You should never book your ED vacation until you receive the confirmation email from BMW NA's ED department. Whatever your SA says is bullshit unless you see it in writing from the BMW NA ED department. Full stop. That email will tell you that it is confirmed and that it is okay to book your travel. If you ever are concerned what or when your ED status is or date is, call BMW NA's ED department and work directly with them (bypass your SA).

All build weeks and EDs are tentative until you get that email.

If you fail to show up for the day, you cannot do the ED delivery. The car will be sent to the port and shipped to you. BMW AG will then charge BMW NA which will then charge you for the costs of shipping handling etc.

Lessons learned👍🏻👍🏻 I appreciate the feedback.

Not sure yet. Given the lack of concrete information flowing in my direction I'm not completely convinced that date is not "subject to change" yet again.

I'll keep you posted. We could share a toast.
