I was considering trading my C7 for a new C2S, but at $140k I’d need to trade two of my cars and sell a kidney. For that money, I can buy two C8s, but would simply trade my C7 in for a C8 and save a ton. I was happy with the interior of the C7 but the C8 appears two tiers better from the photos. Not happy with all the design elements like the row of buttons but if it’s like my Macan which has a crap ton of buttons in the center, you barely touch them once things are set.

I highly doubt we will see a C8 under 75K for couple of years.

Well, Chevy had troubles cooling the V8 in a C7 Z06. What are the chances it will keep it cool in their first mid engine car?

I love tactile buttons, knobs, and levers and am happy to see their return. I find all the touchscreen menus and screens to be a much bigger distraction, and buttons eventually just become part of muscular memory once you've learned them.

They won’t have cooling issues with NA.

Turbos or blower that’s another story

C8 Mid-Engine Corvette <$60k MSRP.. BMW rival?

I’m sure you all have heard the news, Chevy released their new C8 corvette and it is indeed mid-engine. I’d say that’s a fairly dramatic change to the US sports car market and the corvette brand... it’s going to be made right hand as well so watch out Europe. The Brits are always drooling over the opportunity to own an American V8.

The C8 appears to only come with their new DCT so the manual is now dead in the corvette historical timeline. Hopefully, BMW holds true and keeps the manual alive but I must say the new C8 really does look like a super car. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I might have to give it a look. There’s only one space in the garage and the thought of selling my M2C is very sad indeed. Thoughts?

C8
MSRP <$60k
0-60 less than 3sec
Dry weight 3366
V8 6.2L NA 490hp/495hp with performance exhaust
Coil overs with magnetic suspension
Front lift suspension for curbs and speed bumps

Under 3s 0-60 with the Z51 package, not the base model. That alone will probably take the car to over $65k without any other options. That said the performance you get for that price is still mind boggling. Magnetic suspension, front lift system etc. will all most likely be options, not standard.

Oh, right, I forgot the Z06 is SC. I just remember my friend had to return his under the lemon law. He got a GT350 instead and that car is pretty sweet.

I was planning on ordering m2c early next year. The only thing stopping me from going to a Chevy dealer and trying to secure a z51 C8 is the lack of a manual transmission. As much as I love the M2c and BMW in general, the c8 is on a completely different level and would be a no brained with a manual. I’ve driven the camaro on alpha platform a few times and the handling and steering feel is what BMW used to be like in the e39/e46 era. The corvette will be better and mid engine too for a better weight profile. Not to mention it looks like a supercar while the m2 looks amazing but it just looks like a beefed up sedan which is basically what it is.

I think it's clear germany has no response to this. The c7 was a monster improvement and a beast all around. This new gen will leave the competition in the dust. Especially the R8.

Wow, I'm not a fan of American cars but hot damn, I love the specs on this vehicle. I'm even willing to overlook the non-manual option

The R8 will have plenty of company, first one to show up will be the Acura NSX.

The new design is train wreck.
Having owned a few Corvettes before my German cars...The few truths about the GM Corvette has always been their performance numbers are never even close to what the owner can actually obtain. Case in point all the videos of the current Z51 Stingrays that struggle to get below 5 seconds 0-60mph. Even one video had a GM test driver trying to get the best times and was left at just under 5 seconds 0-60mph. Second is the horrific build quality from cheap GM controls the build materials will look nice for 6 months before they start to deteriorate and rattles appear everywhere. The exterior paint work will be thin and spotty at best. Fit and finish is not a theme GM has ever embraced as they build at a low quality price point. I would much rather GM build a high quality Corvette with better materials and charge $100k. Price point of the models shown at the release is perhaps high $88k usd?? Nobody wants the entry level Corvette as they are very low rent even by GM standards so forget the under $60k wow factor. You have to really hate your passenger to make them sit in the passenger seat as it looks as if they are quarantined.
Last year I tried to help my elderly neighbor do a few runs in his 2017 Z51 Stingray since he knows I have the tech gear to measure performance and our best Draggy times were just at 4.97 seconds 0-60mph.. It is suppose to be a “3 second car.” To put that in perspective, my latest 2019 BMW X5 50i M-Sport luxury/muscle SUV does 4 seconds flat with half a tank of gas and not using launch control with the same Draggy unit. Funny thing is the BMW can do those times all day long.

Break down of the new design:

Last Z51 Stingray performance 0-60mph

This belongs in the vs subforum.

Cool car, hard to argue there but let's see what the street price is after markup.

Wow... Chevy finally brought the Vette to the table inside and out. I sold my OG with the intentions of buying a C7 ZO6 and damn glad I didn't because this thing is a damn animal. 2-3 years when the C8 ZO6 comes out I'm gonna have to pull the trigger and go old school American muscle

This car just completely and totally murdered any market for the new Supra. And really any car in this pricing segment.

I love the C8 value proposition and, as a former 2017 Camaro SS 1LE owner, I know that Chevy can make a great track car. So, let's see what the objective testing yields when the car is released to the reviewers and then the public.

Why are you a former owner of the Camaro? I loved my experience driving them the few times I had them but I'm curious what it is like to live with daily. I've basically only driven the car on a 300 mile round trip road trip. My only complaint was noise levels being in the car for a few hours. Curious on why you got rid of it.

The C7 already embarrassed a good number of the 911 family. The C8 will continue to do so even more.

Plus with 500hp NA V8 you don't have to worry about inter-coolers or cooling in general. This car is going to rewrite the performance book.

Different strokes. Also let's see what the street price is and street performance. Chevy is notorious for overhyping and overstating #s

Just wait for the chrome wheels......

I find it hard to take the corvette seriously no matter the specs. The front is interesting, sides ok minus the unneeded black accents, but the rear end is an absolute disaster. The stolen Camaro details don’t belong, the square tiny exhaust tips set styling trends backwards and there are more unnecessary lines than a coke head can appreciate... The lack of a manual just adds more insult to injury. GM couldn’t design its way out of a box, what an ongoing disaster that company is. This is what the Pontiac Aztec and Camaro would look like after a rear on collision... I’ll pass
