Not happy with the seats. Feel great but the fixed headrest and shoulder wings sucks. Hard to reach belt, cant use a seatbelt holder, and no option for a harness.

The manual is great tho. Really nice. First car with rev match and I gotta say I like it

It's funny, but MR posted about this after his test drive at Ascari, and then it's been confirmed by a number of folks, like Carl. I don't know if it subliminally seeped into my brain too, but it's something I definitely noticed as well. Even in Sport+ mode, it does seem very lackadaisical until you hit 3000 RPM and then it just really, really starts to pull like crazy.

Maybe they changed the mapping to prevent idiots like me from doing stuff like this?

Let me know what the trick is to avoid those.
To some extent I'm with you here. There needs to be a no crackle option button.

Two anecdotes.

1. I was in the city the other day walking to an appointment about 8:45AM. I had numerous crackling Mercedes driving by. It was almost cringeworthy. It sort of had a "my god my mid life crisis has taken on a new dimension" note to it.

2. Was talking about the crackle sound to my 13 year old son.
Him "To me it seems as if there is something wrong with the car".
Me "But what about your beloved AMG GTR on the PS4?"
Him "Actually, I don't really like that. It doesn't sound good."

So. The crackle is the modern day version of the balding man's hairpiece that lifts in the wind in his convertible.

I need a button to disable this. I have hair. And dignity.
This is funny, well done.

The fixed headrest is a bit annoying and wish it was adjustable. I'm used to all of this coming from the M4 though, I feel like the belt was even harder to reach in that car than the M2C.

I am really hoping to get to test drive an M2C soon - I have an F80 ZCP, and there's no hint of lag or lackadaisical nature at any RPMs. The car seems to pull very hard, even from low RPMs, and gets even crazier once you're beyond 2500-3000 RPM.

Aka, this is probably more of a tune thing than anything else, which you point out above...

Just my $.02....

It will be interesting to hear from Carl and Old Gezzer once their cars are past 1200 miles.

Don't know what it's actually called, but our 1M had, and the OG and LCI M2 have this feature, i.e. the thigh support can be extended towards the dashboard maybe an inch or two, by pulling that part forward.

I saw a thread on where to store a cell phone, and that "fold" in the front passenger seat (assuming it was empty) was a popular choice, and then I thought "Hey, I wonder..."

Anyway, I don't recall seeing pictures of the M2C seats with this feature, although maybe I just wasn't looking for it. Do tell, thanks!

The M2C seats do not have the thigh extender. I remember my 328i had it too.

Are the seats as adjustable as in the 2018? Side bolsters, etc

Someone had mentioned before that perhaps some of the anti lag pre spool features of the S55 from the f80/2/3 didn't make to the stock M2C. I know they did something on those S55 to try to reduce lag.

This "lack of low end kick" issue is probably just because of the different tune. In other words, it's all software and not necessarily a bad thing. With the earlier versions S55 software in M3/M4s, there were several complaints about high torque available very early on hence affecting the power delivery and traction (unless you ran wider, stickier tires). Take a look at the dyno graph below showing torque (y-axis) vs engine speed (x-axis):

In this comparison, there are 4 different cars: Non-ZCP M4 with 2016 software, Non-ZCP M4 with 2017 sw, M4 ZCP with 2017 sw, and M4 CS with 2017 sw.

Based on the graph Non-ZCP M4 with 2016 sw and Non-ZCP M4 with 2017 sw make pretty much the same peak power. What's interesting is that the peak torque comes at about 2500rpm on the 2016 software whereas 2017 software delivers the peak torque right after 3000rpm. Also, 2016 sw makes 50-100lb-ft more than 2017 sw up until 2700rpm.

If you look at the F80 forum, many members who got a software update about ta year ago initially thought that BMW reduced the power in their cars and their cars became slower. However, it wasn't the case in reality. As someone who had experienced the both software versions, I can tell you that newer software resulted in much better power delivery even though it felt like you lost some low end torque. Long story short, I believe this is the case with M2C as well.

Also, anti-lag capabilities in Sport and Sport+ modes of M3/M4 are all thanks thanks to ECU software (you can read more about it here) and even if the M2C tune/software is lacking these capabilities, there is nothing a M3/M4 flash tune can fix

Yep, it's likely the feeling is from throttle mapping being changed to be less aggressive.

I now have 750 on it and have taken it to 7 a few times . Pulls like a freight train from 3k up! It just doesn't have the low end snap of the N55 in the OG. It just doesn't but it is a stronger engine that likes to rev expecally for a boosted engine. Even thought the 0-60 will be close I'll bet it's a second faster 0-100 .Carl

Agreed - Since one of the biggest complaints of the M3/M4 was the loss of traction on launch, I bet they have found a way to fix it.
