Nice design, looks like 3 pieces? Full advantage of that Comp car duct. You can always print more if something gets damaged

Like the stiffening plate cover, you should sell these. They are actually very good and OEM like.

It's still an excellent aero piece, it's a large relatively flat surface close to the ground, and therefore the venturi effect will help produce some suction. It'll also smoothen up the surface of the stiffening plate and make some good drag reduction. So yeah you really should sell them along with the brake ducts.

Finally got these in and it was a breeze! The tie rod end heat shields required a little modification, but ultimately will be effective. The air deflectors were a direct fit and was able to use the holes provided using zip ties. Clearance to the wheel and tie rod end at full lock is achieved, and I have 19x9.5" +28 front wheels. The tie rod end shield need some trimming to clear the brake caliper mounting and the knuckle casting, and of course a new hole drilled. After installing, I gently wedged a screw driver between the stamped steel shield and the aluminum knuckle so it would rub or vibrate against the knuckle. Someone who wants a more finished look can paint the shields to cover the bare metal. I skipped that. These shields are $5 each on Amazon and I may order another set and trim for a more finished part. The air deflectors are flexible, but maybe a little too flexible. The CT5-V Blackwing air deflectors shown previously are a bit more stiff and "scoopy" looking. I may order a set of those and try them out. I have a 3-day HPDE at Grattan next weekend and will put these to the test and share my findings.

I don't think you need to worry about brake cooling yet given that your calipers are still a bright blue. They will start to green and eventually turn black once they start getting overheated. Your issue is most certainly that you are using street pads rather than track pads. Switch to a proper track pad and your problems are solved.
Once you do actually reach the need for cooling, there's a few old threads in this track session including how people drilled holes into the oem backing plates and mounted cooling houses which is a much better solution then trying to deflect some air generally into the vicinity of the rotors.

Less aggressive brake pads and matched street tires are beneficial in many ways for me. If I can get them to survive sessions with $38 cooling kit that took 2 hours to put on... that sounds great. Certainly a far cry from a full-track setup with track only pads and high effort ducting, but that is not what I am going for at this time. Maybe some day. Dual-purpose street-track usage with as little compromise to reliability and usability as possible.

Consider how I am using the car. It's my daily driver, it sees rain and snow! I drive it hard on the track for 3 days, then drive it to work the next day and take my two kids around in it occassionally. The car is mostly stock suspension and no power added. PS4S offer superior rain performance on and off track, they are smooth and quiet and have good treadlife for the performance they enable. The Ferodo DS2500 is lifetime guaranteed through FCP Euro, and I've already used it once! I don't have to swap pads in between track events. My time is pretty limited, and I don't want to spend it swapping brake pads around all the time.
When the time is right for me to get more aggressive tires and track pads, I will. I'll probably pick up a used Model 3 as a daily, and get a little more aggressive with this car. I'd like to try and address brake cooling in a low cost and simple manner. Adding more heat should not be the first step, get cooling down, then add more friction/heat if needed.

Thanks for sharing your motivation for going this route. Mine is also my daily. While it only takes an hour to swap pads and wheels/tires the night before an event I don’t have two kids Lol.
Sounds like you’ve done a few events in your days so you’re not a total novice but running 300tw tires with less grip was a huge benefit for me starting out. I imagine staying on them even as you’ve progressed continues to force you to improve your driving until you’re squeezing every last tenth out. Optimism aside, proper pads and tires transform the car as you’d expect. Swapping them before and after an event quickly and easily is one of my favorite parts of the OG M2 so don’t feel like you need a dedicated daily to pull it off. Pads, wheels, and Schroth QFP can be done in an hour and a half or less if you hussle. |

From a braking standpoint, if these DS2500 are still exhibiting signs over overheating (pad edge curling, rapid wear) with the additional cooling on high-speed tracks (~130-140mph straights), I'll probably just plan on swapping front pads at the track to a DS1.11 when I arrive, and before I drive home. The rear DS2500 hardly have any wear after 3 days, and I'm increasing cooling to them as well. I don't think it is worth upgrading those yet unless the friction split makes the car feel unstable under braking.

Another downvote for DS2500 used on track.
I've got pieces flying from them after one or two warm-up sessions with 20C outside temp. I wouldn't risk using them again, our cars are quite heavy so whilst others might be happy with them it won't be safe for us. And it's not a cooling issue, other pads I tried are fine without the extra cooling.

Try the DSUNO instead of the 1.11. They have less initial bite and quieter street squeal. I leave them in permanently on my CS for track and street and they are totally tolerable.
I used to hybrid 2500s but now I won't do it. It's just too dangerous as they can literally chunk apart of you get them hot enough on the track |
