M Performance wheels are for CS and GTS/CSL models, not Competition.

M performance wheels aren't showing up on the X3 M40 either so...

Understood but that's not an M car imo. This is supposed to be an upgraded M2. They should have included this.

See M5 Competiton, M3/M4 Competition etc. They don't get changed wheels. New steering wheel reserved for CS or GTS models

I’m glad I didn’t order it - grills are fugly on such a small car - will order the mirrors though from parts!

new grill looks too feminine, but maybe it will grow on me
the mirrors are nice
engine awesome but not worth an extra 10k IMO
thank god they will still offer the manual in the U.S..... right?!

The m2 is only 60-90 lbs lighter than the m4 unless the competition has drastically changed that number which I doubt do to the larger brakes.

I used the European 0-62 number from the BMW UK site to be fair. Comparing factory stock to factory stock is the only way to get an honest and fair comparison. Maybe the new emissions controls will have a greater effect on performance than everyone hoped. And for the record, I don’t care about the potential numbers from modded cars, because all it takes is money to make one car faster than another.

Agreed on everything although the mirrors do just look like revised caps.

As for #5, you would think that with a 50% take rate that we'll get the manual yet still completely absent from the press release. However that's the nature of leaks and I'm sure there's some missing information particularly for the US market. I'm going to need some serious popcorn if they decide to axe the manual for the M2. It makes almost no sense given the platform.

You cannot order the covers. You need the whole mirror unit and that is not cheap at all... You can easily see that is a completely new unit.

My best guess is that manual is a no cost option or this press release is for a country where 6MT is additional cost. ?

Someone has indicated the press release is for Australia. That would be a horrible decision for the US market if this version is DCT only.

All I know is no 6MT, no care. Plus the wheels are ugly.

Another new exciting M and I cannot wait M2 vs M2 C press reviews, for sure some good reading beside Worldcup this summer!

Having said that, I am still discovering the potential of my "old" 2018 M2, not planning to hit track races with it, and its so far pretty amazing. The M2 C first deliveries will probably not happen before end 2019/2020, with tariffs close to more powerfull M3/M4, so I wonder now what will be the after M2 C version.

I agree with the other poster on this being a genuine M car compared to the standard M2. Even BMW is stating as such in the PR when it claims that this is a genuine M automobile.

This combined with the fact that BMW doesn’t include the N55 M2 in the M package on their recently launched subscription program proves it to me. I’m willing to bet they will include the S55 M2 in the M package though.

It makes up for everything that was lacking in the N55 M2; Upgraded engine (biggest point imo), upgraded interior, a bit more aggressive styling (grill, bumpers, mirror).

I was worried this upgrade would overshadow the current M2 substantially. I am not worried any longer. The style updates are forced and don't quite work.

Pros

S55 Engine
M mirrors
M seats

Cons

Styling
Wheels
S55 Engine. If they have crippled this car by not bringing over sufficient cooling.
S55 exhaust sound.
COST. This car is not worth the price increase I am expecting to come with it.

As a current M2 owner.... This made my day!
