Hot Summers

For all of those who live in hot climates (Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, etc.) and also use their M2Cs as daily drivers, how have the cars held up during the prolonged summers?

Did you guys add an aftermarket radiator, turbo blankets, or something else to lessen the stress on the engine?

Any tips?

Thanks in advance.

The S55 isn't a fragile motor. Just get in and drive.

Excellent. I heard my fan run for the first time this evening and it got me wondering. Much appreciated.

It's normal for the fan to run after turning off the car depending on the mode you were in when turning it off.

Even tracking it in fairly brutal heat (upper 90s) didn't cause any issues.

For the first time ever?

If so you're not driving it correctly...

For normal driving the oem cooling system is definitely up to the task around here. It takes a decent pace on the track to really start to see the limits of the stock system. There are some improvements to be had in this area but at no time would I anticipate the stock system not being able to keep up on a daily driver in this area.

I had a chance to drive the M2 and M4 at the BMW center in Thermal, CA. It was 116F for a high that day. We were absolutely thrashing the cars with the A/C on. The only thing that overheated was the tires. If the car is struggling with the heat it will shut down the A/C first. If it still can't handle it it will put itself into limp mode and force you to cool down. None of the S55 powered cars had any problems though I did manage to get an M5 (S63) into limp mode. The cars were all stock with the exception of brakes and tires. Those cars see that abuse almost everyday, and those temps pretty often.
