Over here in Europe the 'M Drivers Package' (code 7ME) is standard on the M2 CS:
  • V-max electronically limited to 280 km/h (174 mph) instead of 250 km/h (155 mph);
  • 1 day training course at a race track.

A 1M, a M2 PE and a M2 CS might very well be my top three favorite late model BMWs

You obviously have excellent taste
Thanks

The alcantara feels awesome but I would rather have leather for daily use so I don't have to worry about touching my steering wheel all the time or cleaning it every couple days.

I'd pay that if it had an S58. Otherwise seems really steep for what it is.

The base M2 is a good car. Just doesn't blow my socks off . Then I can't imagine a 2 series ever being worth north of $80k. I liken this to spending $40k+ on a Focus. It's an awesome car but...

I thought the Alcantara wheel was optional in the US?

It's an option in Europe. 508,26 € + taxes (19 - 21% dependent on country)

I got to sit on the CS today. That CF Bonnet/Hood felt so light but the Alcantara wheel felt to thick for me. So what does it not have compared to M2C besides center console?

Apparently it doesn't have Comfort Access which is a shame. That's a nice feature for daily use.

The M2 Competition was released with the S55 engine hastily because the N55 wasn't going to pass new emissions standards. I think the S55 was never meant to be in the lower priced M2. The M2 CS was probably supposed to get S55 in the M2 lineup exclusively. I remember before the price was released for the M2C people were thinking it would be over $70k, even high 70s. I think if the M2c had not been released with the S55 then there would be far less complaining about the M2 CS price. As it stands now, for people that are truly interested in the performance aspects of the car and not show-go, the M2C is the value pick and the M2 CS is the all out premium pick.

It's a marvellous feature. Weight similar to the typical leaf insect that seems to cling to my car. Leaf insects are weird. There's always at least one every day clinging to this car. At this stage I think I'm some sort of Uber for the leaf insect community. But I digress. Actually I don't. Maybe it's the colour that they are attracted to. Hey leaf team. We look so good contrasting against this aluminium colour. (They say aluminium like Johnny Ive. Also in his accent).

At least if I get the cs I will no longer notice the impaired performance of my vehicle when transporting leaf insects.

I dont understand why they leave Comfort Access out. Wonder how much it weighs? The sensors barely weigh anything but not sure about the Comfort Access ecu?

BMW did the same thing in the F8x CS regarding the comfort access. They gave an option for a rear sunshade and executive package (HUD etc etc.. ) but deleted comfort access, rear climate controls and center arm rest. Pretty stupid IMO.

Hey look I'm a race car but not really

ummm... am I the only that noticed that the HK stereo is still in lol?

Any time BMW talks about weight savings it is lol worthy.... you cannot make the F87 / F80 chassis meaningfully lighter without pulling out significant components out of the car... if they put in lightweight seats, no stereo, lighter thin glass, lightweight battery, swapped out trunk, roof and hood with CF, stripped any insulation and pulled out back seats, then you may have a lighter weight that actually matters... but is that a car that people would actually want to daily drive?

I think even if I think about my own car; the M2 competition... I can only think about reasonably removing or never having a few small items; albeit, I doubt any of these would make a weight difference, I just think they are unnecessary and I would prefer not to pay for them-

1) the entire exec pack is imho worthless with the exception of adaptive lights... do I care about adaptive lights? not really
2) the heated steering wheel... could have been an option for colder climates
3) the safety systems - lane departure and auto braking or forward collision are nearly useless

What I would instead ask for-

1) Blind spot system, far more useful than the above safety systems
2) cooled seats as a hot climate option and for people that track their cars and sweat like crazy
3) cameras for the wheels like in the M3 to not scratch my nice 788m's

None of the above would make any weight differences and again, not sure that matters to me anyways.

To justify $30k price tag over the M2c there has to be some weight loss to the CS. I do not care if they offer a manual for the first time in the CS this does not justify the $30k. The M2 CS needs to go on a diet, not a huge one. But at least shed $150-250 lbs or so BMW!

If BMW was serious about the M2 CS why did they not put in a lithium ion battery in from the M4/M3? This sheds 30 lbs alone and is readily available!

So BMW wants to charge $8,000-10,000 for a CCB option that sheds about 30 lbs when they can simply put a Lithium Ion battery in the M2 CS and shed the same weight with a simple low cost battery change??

Club Sport 'CS' = Chubby Sadness.
