Daily?
Hey, everyone. Currently have a Z4MR for weekend fun, and a '17 GTI is the daily driver. We also have a couple more BMW's in the household. Curious what your thoughts are on swapping the GTI out for an M2. As info, the GTI is already lowered moderately but I'm not sure if the suspension would be comparable to an M2. Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

My M2 is a daily driver. I have a smile on my face every time I take it out.

Same here. Winter tires and all. DD with no worries, hoon when the weather allows and at track days.

I daily mine. I don't find it uncomfortable at all, but everyone's threshold is obviously different. It's practical enough for most things, and we have a large-ish SUV for anything demanding extra room. All that said, I did take it on a long road trip, and it's not the best car for soaking up hundreds of highway miles (in my opinion).

It depends
if your lazy driver, you just go straight ahead, and dont look for potholes and stuff at all then it prob wont be comfortable for you |

I have both. '18 M2 and '18 GTI (wife's car). Both 6MT. Completely different cars. Interior on the Golf is nicer and the stock seats are nicer than the M2, but that's about where it ends. Granted my M2 is moderately/heavily modified, but it's no comparison...M2 is a beast. GTI is the beauty (on the inside anyway).

Get in the GTI, and it's perfectly acceptable and capable for a daily. Threw a JB4 on it a few months ago, and it pulls great once the turbo spools. DSG also makes things easy in traffic while still snapping off fast shifts. Maybe I should just be content for a while? Ha! The Z4M is already ESS supercharged. So that covers a desire for something more raw and analog on weekends/nice days. Part of me is leaning towards waiting another year or two and hoping for 991 Turbo prices to drop into a more reasonable range. So I suppose the question is, would you opt for... Immediate Gratification - swap GTI for an M2 daily and keep Z4M Exercise Patience - keep GTI as daily and eventually sell Z4M for 991 Turbo Cab

I keep mine for nice weather trips and spirited runs. I very rarely drive it for anything but the two things mentioned above, but I believe I'm in the minority.
As others have said, it would work just fine as a daily. I'm happen to have another car that I also enjoy that works better in inclement weather. YMMV |

I swapped my 2017 GTI Sport for my M2. The GTI is a great car in it's own right, especially for a FWD platform. The M2, which I daily, is on a completely different level. Getting rid of the GTI was one of the stupidest monetary decisions I have made, but I adore the M2.
I only miss Android Auto and less frequent gas station visits with the GTI...

Why do people think M cars are not DD. Every M car I've had has been a DD. It's still just a BMW after all.
