How sad is that ⁉️

If Porsche will still have it. Even today, you have to work at finding a dealer willing to do it, and it may quietly slip away...

BMW is also preparing for a future without euro deliveries: reducing/eliminating the price difference, eliminating the dealer incentives etc.

If you've wanted to do it, don't delay, do it now. Get on a list for the CS and have a go next year.

Stupid question I suppose, but then what's the point of the incoming M235i GC if this new chassis is also going to happen in a couple of years, AND include an M240i?

Doubt it for the US if the Mexico built 2 series is for the US market. Non US 2 series might.

Oh man if they do it like that and have two production plants for the two series us North American guys might get the short end of the stick again like with the e36 m3 and the nerfed engine.

M240i is the RWD COUPE with the inline 6 while the M235i is the FWD bias Gran Coupe with the turbo 4. Two very different cars.

Will the g87 M2 come with the s58 engine? or will they do the same as the earlier versions of the first M2's for this generation (with the n55), and build it with the b58 engine?

That's why I'm planning ED on an M2C next summer. Better get the experience while we can!
Yup do it!! I did the m2c ed this August. While it's true waiting for few months after dropping it off to pick it back up is excruciating you may not get the chance to whip a super fast super nimble small wheelbase bmw coupe on stelvio again. I did it on a warm Sunday afternoon and it's the best driving experience of my life so far

Otherwise absolutely no bueno.

I know from a friend that workers at a Eurocopter helicopter plant in Bavaria routinely have Weißbier and Weißwürste (beer and sausages) on Friday morning, and continue to assemble helicopters afterwards. Wouldn't surprise me if it similar in the bavarian BMW plants.

What do the workers in Spartanburg drink on Fridays? Aren't XM3-XM6 built there as well?

LOL at the people getting bent out of shape and claiming they will switch to other brands because they cannot get ED. For, if the M2 BMW builds, performs as advertised and looks the part, you will shun it AND spend more on a competitor simply to get ED? Get serious.

Off topic, but... I swear, if they just called the damn thing a 1 series sedan, there would have been less confusion and anger (people would still be angry, but not for using the 2 series moniker)

Garage List
I've been to BMW Welt a few times (former job had an office in Munich) and so I'm admittedly less inclined to really want to do a ED. But I DO understand why folks would really want to do it. You can really spend an entire day going thru it and the museum next door and driving around the Autobahn is pure joy - it's these cars natural environment.

My bigger concern is than whether they are made in Mexico or Leipzig is that they don't muck it up. We know they won't be basing it on UKL with a FWD so there's a bullet dodged and they have said it will have an I6 ... BUT ... they could still decide to not offer manual, only offer the M240 as a 4 cyl M235 or worst of all PUT AN UGLY GIANT GRILL ON IT.

If there is any reason to travel to Munich it's not for ED, it's to start a protest outside BMW Welt carrying "NO UGLY GIANT GRILL ON THE M2" signs until they promise not to do it.

Probably the only thing that will save it, though, is the M2 not being as popular in China due to not being flashy (read: douchy) enough.

On the other day, I heard F80 M3 price will be going up because of the new M3's front grills.
Now, the F87 M2 price is going up due to the new plant BMW built in Mexico.

I think people should start making investments on current M cars

No one knows. It is not supposed to go into production until December 2022. A long ways away.

Yes let's hope no giant grille on the M2. It looks terrible in M3/M4 world.

Mexican food is from Mexico and it's delicious.. this wouldn't stop me buying one at all.. what do the Germans know about food anyways.. spaetzle sausage and onions? I've visited both countries.. I'll go back to Mexico over Germany any day of the week.. good food, cheap beer and cheap drugs. I'll let Juan get me my taco's and Jesus can build my BM..

This question is based on the wrong premise. In reality, it is M240i that is completely unnecessary. A lot more people want a cheaper 4-door sedan and don't give a f about the drivetrain layout. I would even guess that, if not for the new SLP plant with its available capacity and lower costs, G42/G87 would never exist.

ED is not about visiting the Welt (one can do it any time while in Munich). It is about the ability to go on an amazing road trip in an amazing car. Munich is perfectly located for that: you have easy access to the Alps in five different countries, historical Italy, Mediterranean coast, several Eastern European countries, and, of course, Nurburgring.
