The price.

Nostalgia - from the BMW 1M days:

So the nearly ready 1M with the halogen lights came to the acceptance test (TÜV) and failed. Why ? Because the parking lights of the halogen headlights where too much inwards (because of the wider fenders the 1M got compared to the stock E82) and so BMW had to put the Xenons in as standard equipment (the parking lights are more external because of the "angel eye design" [coronas]) and the price raised to 50.500 Euro (later 51.500 Euro) [Germany]."

Many enthusiasts looking forward to owning a limited run automobile may shell out extra cash to do so.....and BMW may produce more than originally intended.
I'm sure that's what 1M owners are hoping for!

If we do that math for the US we end up around $85K. Time will tell.
Quite likely the M2 CS price-setting may be perceived by lots of enthusiasts as 'the elephant in the room'.

Artemis, please excuse my thick-headedness, but 95K Euro is $105K USD, correct? So how do we get to $85K USD? I'm sure I'm just reading something wrong. Anyway, at 105K, I'm so out. At 85K, I'm possibly still in. At $75K I'm definitely in.
Deduct 19-21% VAT partially or fully, when exporting to USA.

Proportional change: calculate with percentages (instead of currency conversion):
  • ± $53K (original M2 2016 US list price) + ± 60% = ± $85K (M2 CS guesstimate);
  • ± $59K (M2 Competition 2019 US list price) + ± 45% = ± $85K (M2 CS guesstimate).
Conclusion about the M2 CS guesstimate: ± $85K in the US and ± €95K in Germany (VAT included).

My SA estimated that it would be 20% less than the €95k. That was from his experience about how much more the cars are in Europe than here in US.

The camo car is from a previous video. Black can car doesn't appear to have hood vents. Plate 3241

https://www.motor1.com/news/370428/bmw-m2-cs-spy-video/

Later in video 1354 makes an appearance. 3241 seems to have a lot more body roll. Maybe just pushing harder. 1354 might be going for laptimes after 6min mark in video.

Yep! Where are the hood vents? 🤔

Hope they are on the final production car!

The black car is an older Prototype already seen months before, hence no hood vents.

At those prices I am out. All BMWs lose their value initially, and the enthusiast models never sell out in the US. Some recover, most do not. Time will tell.

Was hoping for 80k € base.
Cheers
After last nights event in Brussels it's fairly safe to say that the info about the price was pretty solid

And so it appears that the length of M2C + M2 CS and 718 GT4 are virtually identical (difference of only 5mm/0.5cm or 0.2in), unlike the wheelbase (difference of 20.9cm or 8.22in).

Length and wheelbase:
  • 981 GT4 = 4438mm (174.72in) | wheelbase: 2474mm (97.40in)
  • 718 GT4 = 4456mm (175.43in) | wheelbase: 2484mm (97.80in)
  • M2 Competition = 4461mm (175.63in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • M2 CS = 4461mm (175.63in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • original M2 = 4468mm (175.91in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • E46 M3 = 4492mm (176.85in) | wheelbase: 2731mm (107.52in)

+1

Starting to lose interest.

Not really.

But it's going to be a long winter, I want something to look forward to, I want to play with the configurator a million times, I want to start planning euro delivery.

Damn first world problems

If in 2020 an M2 CS hangs inside your rear view mirror, you won't mistake its face for a base M2 or M2 Competition. Especially if it's dressed in MB (the only F87 that gets it), AW or HS. And BSM ? Like a tuxedo: usually black + some black satin trim blending in.

My M2 CS color vote doesn't go to the 'loud' Bavarian blue ("Misano Blue" might be 'Miss-and-no Blue" for some - better go check it out IRL on an M135i, X2 or Z4 before choosing it). My vote goes to tuxedo cool with a red bow tie: BSM with dark CFRP and some gloss black thrown into the mix, combined with jet black 763M wheels contrasted with red accents (red-colored brake calipers of the M Sport Brakes + red contrast stitching gracing the alcantara/leather interior). All stock.

Gold matte 763 M wheels: great wheel design but with IMHO a questionnable color finish (definitely not to everyone's taste). Jet black is a dark knight. F87 size unavailable Orbit Grey is king of the castle.
