Even BMW says the 0 to 60 time is just .1 second faster. The M2C is faster in the 60 to 100 mph times. No real difference as a daily driver. That is why I still have my M2 instead of a M2C.

Send C/D a letter requesting that they do just that, tune the car and add 100HP and then re-review it. Because reviewing cars the way they come from the factory is so 2018. Let us know what they say...

According to this site, M2C is only faster on Nurburgring, in 0-XX mph tests but not when tests are done in kph(?) and 1/4 mile.

Problem is that most 2C owners are too worried about their warranties and won't tune the car, so what does it matter?? I COULD win the lottery...but if I don't buy a ticket, it doesn't mean much. #warrantiesareforgirls |

Both are great cars, and these tests aren't entirely objective (different days and conditions, etc.).
We have an OG M2 and I am very interested in the M2C as a replacement for my F80 at the end of the year.

It trapped 3 mph faster and conditions are never identical between tests. The 0-60 is traction limited. Seems as expected to me.

I don't blame them. I too would be too worried about having my warranty voided to mod them. The turbos can leak, the intercoolers can leak, the oil cooler can be damaged, etc. Too many things can go wrong on these engines to risk voiding your warranty and being saddled with big repair bills.

Overall I agree with most comments in this thread tho. Stock vs stock these cars are pretty close up to 60mph. Personally buying an M2C over OG M2 and keeping it stock doesn't make much sense to me and is against the main appeal of M2C IMO. |

The M2C being close to the M2's stock power output is not a flaw but by design.
It had to reasonable match the power of the N55 M2 for marketing and more important traction. Only up to 265s rear tires can fit the M2C. I know this has been said ad nauseam but it still holds truth that the M2C S55 has way more of a power ceiling than the tapped out N55 in the M2. So even with a warranty-matching Dinan S1 piggyback and some sticky tires, you can very easily shave a second off that 0 - 60 time difference CD is claiming. Either one is a win but looking at the big picture, I still prefer the M2C mainly for its motor's top-end potential. |

This is why numbers in a vacuum mean very little. The Miata is an incredible car, but you wouldn't know it from the numbers alone.
The M2C is a better track car and will outperform the non-competition model. Period. This is something that cannot be disputed and should not continue to be a source of debate by OG M2 owners (myself included). Also, heads up, in a few years another M2 will come out that's even faster than the current M2 and M2C. It will be up to you to decide if it still represents the same value that caused all of us to pull the trigger the first time around. |
