New M2c owner. Love the car. Car came with springs and I thought the ride could be better. Researched suspension upgrades and vendors. Chose Ohlins road & track. Also wanted to get the clutch closer to ground and found the UCP. Contacted ECS Tuning and despite full price quote from them decided to commit to the $3700. Contacted installer and they let me grab a spot opened by a cancelation. Order arrived a week later in a big plain heavy box.Arrived at installers and we opened the box to find both the UCP and the Ohlins coilovers in thier own boxes. Bunched up heavy paper in between. Good enough. Removed the Ohlins factory box that appeard to be re-taped and not the factory seal. Continued to open Ohlins box to find everything just dumped into the box like a bucket and only one 2" foam pad at the lid. Everything was just in a pile obviously bashing around. Couldn't believe I paid $3200 for these and this is how they shipped. Then notice these had been assembled already and used somehow. Nuts had been on the threads. Boots were cut, housings had been mounted and the body threads were all smashed from hitting eachother in transport. They didn't look used bad, but maybe display or car show? Can't explain the shipping decision. Installer and I decided to go ahead and install since car was on the lift and wouldn't be able to get back on the calendar for a while. Coilovers are a big improvement and would highly recommend, love the UCP as well, but dang, felt taken advantage of. Really disappointed. Contacted Nick at ECS. Sent pics. He apologized and offered to try to get a few hundred dollars back to make up for it. Then came back in an email and said management said they would only give me $207 back.. Not sure how I feel. Open to like store credit or something, but still feel fleeced. 100% understand waitings weeks to return and reschedule is ideal, but need to use my car. Thoughts?

I would have taken pictures taped the box up and requested a return label.

Your mistake was installing them.

Yeah. I get that 100%, but since this is the car I drive, didn't want to wait another month plus to get it figured out.

That’s crazy. Full refund/replacement or I’d file a chargeback the same day.

No. Sold as new. Full price. Most "open box" stuff is like 20% less, but I wouldn't have chosen used to save the money. Then the shipping issue just blows my mind.

To be extra clear, Nick did start the conversation with replacement shipped from Ohlin, which of course is great if I didn't install them. Chose to go forward with install so I could still commute. Springs ride was brutal on the backroads going to Bay Area from Valley.

While I agree the condition and shipping was pretty horrible, at this point after installing them there isn't much you can do but ask for something. I wouldn't have put them on my car but if you had no choice I would have looked for at least 15-20% back for condition.

Another thing is you have no idea what use they've had, could be heaps of hard tracking and near due for servicing! A lot of those marks/scratches/dents on the struts/shocks could also be from road debris impact rather than damage in shipping transit.

Buying and paying for 'new' and then receiving 'used' (and clearly previously installed) amounts to fraudulent/deceptive conduct by the seller. I'd be researching your local consumer law, may be you can no longer return them but at very least you'd want the cost of servicing them.

I try not to do business with ECS (although truthfully, I have placed a couple small orders):

They went fishing to see if anyone would accept a discount off after they received them. They knew what they were doing.

Yeah that's pretty subpar service right there. Do you know what springs were on there when you bought the car?

I'm still just amazed that Ohlins would be shipped in a sub-par manner. Not an inexpensive item. I'm also amazed, regardless of when you needed them, that you put them on your car. I mean, just wow.

There is no way I would have installed these subpar parts.

Why not just reinstall your old parts? Unfortunately you ‘accepted’ the item when you installed them. Unless of course, there is something wrong with them; then its a simple warranty issue and should be easily returned. (Hint, hint)

You installed them. At that point any initial condition issue is dead.

that is just bad business
if you ordered new parts, you should have received what you ordered.
I agree with those that stated nothing to do now but enjoy the car. take the $$ and write it off to experience.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!

Thanks for sharing OP. Those absolutely look used! I would have boxed-em up and returned to sender on their dime.

I am about to order charge pipe, down pipe, diverter valve, ecu tuning, intercooler, turbo upgrade, and more... might think twice about ordering some of these parts from ECS. I have shopped there for other cars in the past with no issues, but you never know.

A little bit of bad customer service goes a long way, especially with all of these forums
I recon they will not get 4-5k of my business.

This is not an ECS Customer Service issue. This is SOLEY a CUSTOMER impatience issue.

Who here would install those parts after opening the box and seeing that? No one. I wouldn't, even if I had a track day the next day and would have to wait another 6 months for an install appointment.

All it would have taken is one phone call to ECS, followed with an email or text w/pictures and at most 1 hour to find out ECS' recommended options. Any longer than that, and the only option would be send me a return label and throw the crap into my trunk.

If this is followed with well my stock suspension was off before I opened the box and saw this sh*t show, I call BS or sorry to say the OP is an idiot.
