Mine is similar, checked out a few other M2's in car yards, all had differing gaps in that area, some worse some better thant mine, have tried adjusting the locking hinges on the bonnet and adjusted the front bumper slightly but didn't seem to make much difference.

I think that is fairly normal from all the M2 photos I’ve seen.

Yet another reason to go with BSM as the color masks panel gaps.

If you don't let the hood drop from about 2' up you can have times where the latches don't grab all the way. Sometimes shops that don't know better try gently closing the hood and its not designed for that. Gotta let that puppy drop to work properly. In terms of the funky design blame the European pedestrian standards. They have gone nuts with making the cars soft enough to not critically hurt a pedestrian.

I have hours of time adjusting/shimming everything up front to get my gaps right. I adjusted the hood, bumper, headlights since they locate the bumper ends, and the fenders. The factory folks must be blind. But getting the gaps right is tricky because optically correct is very difficult on this car. The Mustang also has this weird gap set up and they are even worse.

I believe the concern is the gap is wider on the drivers side versus the passenger side. My experience is that every time you change your viewing angle just a little bit the gaps appear different. To know if you have a real inconsistency you can't rely on your vision, you need to measure.

You can fix it in 5 minutes, i did, just unscrew the upper 4( number to be checked) screws like one turn and something, enough for moving or sliding the upper part of the bumper with resistance to keep the position wanted during checking or screwing back the whole thing and that's it, voilaaaaa

OG F87, same issue, the gap widens on the left side (driver point of view), especially at the end when it meets the bumper, above the headlight. I once suspected that someone nudged that side.
