Was it thicker than the stock M2C wheel?

I maybe in the minority, I like slim wheels like new Porsche's. Thinking about just ordering one and see if you like it, otherwise return.

To me, the most important part is the shape of the rim itself, not necessarily flat at the bottom, but racing wheels, like the one in my Exige, are an oval shape, front to back, not perfectly round, and it helps a LOT. Last edited by VisualEcho; 07-20-2020 at 12:27 PM.. |

The CS steering wheel looks great. I had an authentic CSL Alcantara wheel on my e46 M3 back in the day.
Having said that, I despise Alcantara after years of ownership. It's a maintenance nightmare. I don't care how clean your hands are or how often you wipe it down, its long term reliability is simply shit. Never again. Lesson learned. Sure, it looks and feels amazing for the first 5-10k miles. But after that, you have to either buy a new one or shave it, on top of further cleaning. It drove me nuts. In my experience, it's also slippery as f***, unless you're crazy enough to use gloves on the street. I never understood why Alcantara was perceived as a grippier steering wheel. It's not. The genuine OE leather steering wheel has it beat tenfold. Not only in terms of grip, but also longevity. Some people complain that the leather gets shiny after a while. I personally never found this to be the case. As it ages, it looks better with a slightly worn look that not only gives it character, but also improves the grip. Then again, some people sweat like pigs doing nothing, which could explain why none of their steering wheels last. Now, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from an Alcantara wheel. By all means, give it a shot. If you don't mind the maintenance involved and reduced grip, it a gorgeous wheel. However, if I were getting a CS, it would be the first thing I would swap. |

https://shop.orangecountybmw.com/oem...52-32308746879 But these are different part numbers: F8x M3/M4 CS - 32-30-8-074-914 (GetBMWParts) - List $1076 OEM M2 CS - 32-30-8-074-879 (BMW Part Pros) - List $714 Does anyone know the difference? The 914 one does not come with the trim, so I don't understand the difference in price. |

It's not an option on the CS. If the M2 CS wheel does turn out to be $500 (as shown above), I'll live with the red/orange color with my polar blue interior. The perforation for the stripe is certainly much less obtrusive compared to the blue stripe in the M Performance steering wheels. (Not to mention, the blue stripe wears/fades in the sun).

Can't confirm nor deny but I've read somewhere that the standard OEM Alcantara used on cars like the M2C/M2CS is slightly lighter in color than the aftermarket M-Performance Alcantara trim pieces offered by BMW so that would make sense I guess.
