If you're looking for a more comfortable ride, with lots of creature comforts, and room to haul around more than one passenger then your choice is easy the C450, however they are made in USA

Yeah, neither are bad options just need to decide what I want. Dad is a year into his Allroad, if he wants me to get him the new 2017 in the fall and I keep his 2015 the M2 shortcomings in certain scenarios (weather, passengers, etc) are no longer a problem I have to deal with.

AMG design is pretty badass.

Hardly a negative. Not only are most assembly lines automated, if you look at objective metrics like number of lemons per production totals, overall dependability, and initial defects some of the best cars are made in the US. That goes for Mexico as well. Management and engineering have a large bearing on manufacturing.
------------ As for what it is now the AMG 43, one big positive would be how much it pisses off the 'True AMG' (angelic choir kicks in..) crowd. |

OP, since I'm not biased maybe my opinion will help you..
I've owned a Cadillac STS RWD for 2yrs, then went with a 07 328xi for 11 months, then 11 C300 4Matic for 10 months and 6 months took me to sell,14' BMW X3 M-Sport DHP since July 2014 and its been my fav so far. December 2015- I ventured out because I wanted to upgrade to the X3 35i (N55 engine) I found one and test-drove it, but long story short I left due to dealer not wanting to negotiate. I visited the nearby dealership and spoke with someone I knew to test-drive a C450 AMG, I went in, took it for a spin and it was fun! But 362hp/384tq didn't feel like it... as good as it looks I left as well. Following week over the weekend test-drove another C450 with my gf, as I was exploring diff dealerships to see who would give me more for my car trade-in. So far 2 benz and still didn't quite feel like 362hp/384tq... on my last visit to another dealership I went in for a GLA 45 AMG as I knew that would be the car I would want to get.. It felt so good that I asked to drive a C450 AMG right after and i did .. the GLA 45 AMG has 355hp/332tq for 2015 and it felt waaaayyyy faster than the C450. I almost signed the papers for the GLA 45 AMG, but i didnt want to get another black car so I left. For 2016 the GLA 45 comes with 375hp/350tq but no dealer had allocation and said it would sell as MSRP. Now 2016, I visited 3 diff BMW dealerships and test-drove 340, 435, X3/X4 35i,... Long story short, the 340 was the fastest but I missed the GLA 45 AMG and my current X3 clearance, especially for us tall guys. After 2-3 weeks emailing and emailing various dealerships on a price.. I went with the X4 M40i which has the M2 engine (detuned and no overboost). So my vote goes for the M2 ! The community, the free maintenance doesn't hurt, the driving dynamics are a few reasons i am still here.

... and how did we get to talking about the Macan from an M2 starting point? Talk about scope creep! |

Is the C450AMG equivalent to the new C43?
If yes, I'd say that if you want the MB, wait until it's badged a full fledged AMG, resale will improve even though car is same. |

I think the new C class looks fine from the front but the rear... The rear is horrible IMO, no sportiness, no well defined lines/edges. I don't know if this is the right word but its rear looks too "soft" to me... Not aggressive at all. However, the new C class coupe, on the other hand, looks way better. I would consider one if C450 Coupe was available now.

personally for me after being on 2 M2 waiting lists, and reading all the markups.
i really had to think about it. but I love how the new C looks, and its much more luxurious and the same cost. personally i'm going C43 coupe. The m2 is no doubt going to be a great driving car, but if you aren;'t really into track dirving that much, the m2 is going to have a far worse interior, and be a much worse daily driver, so the C43 is a great option. |

Interesting dilemna, but completely different cars if you ask me. One is a track-ready, hard-edged, focused coupe. The other is an elegant, luxurious, yet fast coupe.
I'd boil it down to what type of you car you're after. |

Ask a car question on a one make forum, get a one make answer. BMW it is then.
All the BMW reviews are 'first drive' reviews. Just think how good the actual 'real' reviews could be. These are not far off so maybe hold fire for a few weeks. |

If your over 50, go with the Mercedes and tune it as soon as you get it. If your under 50, wait for the M2 or grab a track pack 340I and get the BMW MPPK. I drive the C450, then the M235i. The Mercedes was quick but quiet, unexciting and uneventful. The M235i wss tight, made great sounds and felt much sportier and exciting.

Asking whether a BMW M2 would be preferred over X 'Mercedes', on a BMW forum, is equivalent to asking a chick who likes you what she thinks about you dating another girl.
She'll be like: "she's fat, but I'm hot, so date me." Cliff Notes: Drive both cars, decide and live life.

and i drive a BMW right now. and i feel like i'm gonna get flamed for this, but its the internet and i dont care. i have 2 things to say. all the over 50, etc jokes for people who buy mercedes really need to stop. seriously people who make these type of jokes, grow the f up. I'm 35 by the way. the fact people even judge your sense of energy or youth or really anything based on what make and model of car you drive is ridiculous. theres perfectly good reasons to buy either car, and either car is a good choice for perfectly good reasons. i've noticed, really just in my 3 and change years of owning a bmw, that BMW seems to attract the "slightly grown up rice rocket owner from 10-15 years ago" types. i'm not saying bmw owners are all like that or even most of them. but that segment of the population, the slightly more grown up subaru and jdm types apparently become that same segment of the BMW populace. and really , grow up people. you moved from justifying your manhood in high school with the wing you put on your civic, to trying to tell people who otherwise love cars but aren't the "i want to lord it over others and make myself feel better" bro segment of the population, that you still are masking any sort of confidence in yourself, and try to put people down based on their car choices. you are just as bad as the people who buy muscle cars / pick ups and get a hard on for it. |
