I've got 35% on mine, and did it for the same reason as you suggest. I did get the windshield fully tinted. I've never been one to tint their windows, but glad I did. It's a very small cost when compared to everything else. I used auto obsessions in Matthews, NC

How much is visibility reduced during day and night with 70 percent on windshield?

Look at post number 13. That's my BSM. I think the factory tint on my x5 is darker. I wouldn't put 30% on the windshield. There seems to be a significant visual difference from 35% to 30%.

70% on windshield here, and it's great at night. Been in dark ex-urban lighting as well as plenty of city lighting, and no problems anywhere. Just take the shades off in the tunnels ..

Anyone else having issues with instrument cluster brightness after having their windows tinted? I got 70% tints on the rear and side windows and now my gauges disappear whenever I drive under a cloud.

No issues with gauges. I take back my claim of 35% tint on my windshield. I'm not sure what it is, but it's not as dark as my side windows.

70 % on sides and rear? Why even bother tinting at all?

Not sure anyone has that combo here

One thing of note. If have Xpel Prime XR Plus 35% on the door glass. It turns a shade of purple on the inside when the sun hits it. It's pretty cool but you can definately tell you have tint.

I might add it also does a fantastic job of keeping the heat out and the rays off your skin.

I have XR Prime Plus on the windshield as well and this does not turn purple when the sun is on it, thankfully.
What % is on your windshield? I am thinking 70 and wanted to make sure there no purple color when lights shining through it.

UV protection. I used to think 35% was the sweet spot, but typically go 70% front and rear and 55 on the sides now.
