That performance is on the short list of Janis Joplin's best.

Overall, I think her performances were very uneven. The best, however, I thought then and still think were extraordinary, and not just for the times. The one you've noted is certainly among the best of them. Janis Joplin was a great artist.

Had that album when I was a kid. Was definitely one of my favorite albums.

She was best when she was part of Big Brother & The Holding Company imo. Awesome band.
