I have an F80 and my wife had a 228i for a while.

The size difference you perceive when driving the cars is significant. The 2 series is very similar to my E46 in how the car feels around you and how big it feels on the road. The F80 feels much bigger.

That's not a dig on my F80 at all, as I love it and The size is not a downside for me, but taking the same car and making it the size of a 2 series will be that much "better" and more agile.

Also, by the time the CS is out, the M4 will be dead, and the CS will go away just as the G80 is coming out. So it's more like the CS is a perfect way to fill the time gap between the M3/4 generations with a car that has similar performance.

Bmw milking the hype machine. This car is literally a M4 now minus the crfp hood and the m4 could be had in this spec since 2014.
If by "milking the hype machine" you mean following the same product planning and marketing model that everyone in the industry has used for a decade+, then I agree.

The auto industry is very predictable these days. This cars specs have been predicted accurately since the M4CS was first announced two years ago.

BMW is following a business case and being efficient with their production to meet customer needs and expectations within reason. There's no nefarious "hype machine" intent on screwing customers out of money.

Where are you located Flash? I thought start of production was March 2020 so you would assume delivery in spring.

Which makes sense. The M2cs hitting dealers after the M4 has ended production.

Well the M3 is already out of production, so it’s a moot point. The M2cs will likely be made available only after the M4cs ends production, bridging the gap between the F82 and G82 M4.

I mentioned this a week or so ago, but now there is an article out. For those questioning why the CS can make sense. 718 GT4 only .8 second faster than CS around hockenheim. CS also had a fuel starvation on that lap. Dedicated 2 seater vs do more 4 seater.

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/11/20...-at-the-track/

Edit: It's not a fueling issue (hpfp or lpfp cannot keep up). It's simply not enough gas left in the tank in that lap. ( See below)

The way you state it misleads.

It appears that the German car magazine Auto Bild (issue 12/2019) features an M2 CS test.

Results (source: 2erTalk forum):
  • output: 456hp metric | 450hp mech (official: 450hp metric | 444hp mech)
  • torque: 549Nm | 405 ft-lb (official: 550Nm | 406 ft-lb)
  • transmission: 6-Speed manual (6MT)
  • tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
  • 0-100 km/h: 4.3s (official: 4.2s for 6MT | 4.0s for M-DCT)
  • 0-200 km/h: 13.6s
  • Lap time Sachsenring (Germany) (18C & dry): 1:34.98 (M2 Competition: 1:35.67) (see also here)
  • weight (6MT + M-CCB): 1532 kg (official: 1550 kg for 6MT + standard M Sport Brakes)
  • exhaust: especially developed for the M2 CS

So it is about 170lbs lighter so roughly 60KG than the competition.
This is pretty serious when you add another 40BHP to the mix.

Let's just hope the price is not outrageous.

No, a base M2C and M2CS (with standard sport brakes) are exactly the same weight (1550 kg DIN) in Europe. Only the CCB give an advantage to the M2CS.

Don't get why so many are deluded about the weight...

CCB and a lightweight battery will get you close to 1500kg, but cost another 10k.

Considering it is €96K in Europe, I'd expect $90-91K in the US.

Because weight is a major factor on how the car performs. It is much more agile. Then you factor in the power bump to the weight reduction, this is a completely different beast.

Hockenheim GP track the M2C is a full seconds slower than the CS. In terms of performance it is significant.

Curb weight of the M2C is 3,600. If the rumors are true of the M2CS without CCB of it being 3410, then you are talking about better overall performance with the power bump.

Guys, remove VAT ~23%

Adjust for NA market as you wish hope and then guess the price.

It looks like I'm going to have to bow out too. .... but still hopeful

I believe appropriately priced is $76k to 78k, I think it will be $82k starting, which is online with what Artemis had been posting for a while $85k. I think that's accurate with DCT. I also think that anything under 80k would be a deal.

Wheels upgrade, exhaust, and carbon additions are likely worth 10k. Add adaptive suspension. Probably gets us close to $75k by stacking Patty's onto the M2C. Add the specialized development alongside the M2CS racecar and limited edition. That easily seems to get you to $80k. If you can get one at MSRP the cost of entry may be more reasonable you would initially think.

I had planned on adding CCB, but when I say the number out loud and look at the % cost against expected car cost it seems stupid.
