A buddy has this on his 335i and loves it. He got a nice sale price on Black Friday last year. I may do the same. For the most part where I live there's 3 kinds of gas, 87, 89 and 93.....so I should be good to go.
Some of the reviews on the app itself are very iffy. It's not really needed. You can set it right @ the unit without the app.

I ran the Sport Tuner for a while in my DCT car, but eventually changed to the full Stage 1 piggyback. Two reasons:
-I was getting limp mode with the Sport Tuner on track, even in the lowest boost Sport setting. -DCT shifting wasn’t as smooth as stock. The full Stage 1 resolved both issues. |

The full piggyback modifies several more values than the Tuner, plus you get Dinan’s full warranty. It’s not as good as a full ECU tune, but none of those solutions come with a warranty if you have engine, turbo, or drivetrain issues. One could argue if the bang for the buck is there with the Stage 1, but it does give the little extra power & torque I feel like the car needed from the factory and I plan to go Stage 4 someday. The Tuner is pretty fun for the street, but can give drivability issues for DCT cars and isn’t good enough for serious track use. |

Just my two cents. Have owned the Sport Tuner for about six months, with the majority of time spent in Race mode. Zero issues so far with a mild degree of spirited driving, although I have not tracked it. I do live in NY, so we don't get crazy heat here, but she ran like a champ even in 80-90 degree weather during the summer. No other mods at this time.
The product provides a noticeable bump in torque that I feel makes the engine feel more like I expected it to coming out of that gate.... When I switch off the tuner, the power is a bit underwhelming. |

To me, the Tuner in Sport or higher became a major safety issue on track. The last thing you want is to have just passed someone and then your car goes into limp mode and your car suddenly slows very substantially without the brake lights coming on. That’s a recipe for a big wreck. |

The sport tuner with downpipe and IC is a massively potent package. It spins the wheels all the way up to 3rd gear. I would not want a more powerful package in this car.

How do you it's the Dinan unit? I've read multiple reports of the DCT being jerky in the lower gears at low rpms, modified or not.

This may or may not be the same shifting issue as the other guys, and some guys may not even notice this. If you don’t notice it, it won’t bother you. If you do notice it and it goes away when running in Stock setting, it’s the Tuner. |

I'm upgrading to BootMod3 so selling my Dinantronics Sport boost controller. I've had it for 9 months and it works great. Looking for $200 shipped. PM me if you are interested.

Sorry if I sound like a noob, but how exactly does bootmod3 work? Is it safer? equally as potent? When I went to the website, it mainly talked about configurability. Thanks

The Dinan tuner is simply a boost controller. It’s a simplified piggy-back (think JB4 but not as sophisticated). I gets plugged into your MAF sensor and tricks the DME to think it’s seeing less boost, so the DME calls for more boost and adjusts timing accordingly. BM3 on the other hand is a completely different animal. BM3 requires the DME to be removed (it’s under the intake manifold) and to be unlocked by an authorized BM3 dealer. Once the DME is unlocked, BM3 is used to flash the DME with different fuel maps based on your setup. This allows for making much more power +100hp/+150ft-lbs with just bolt ons. BM3 also supports turbo upgrades which will get you 200+hp/250+ft-lbs. Consensus is that the best tunes are via DME flash, but if you are looking for an inexpensive way to get some modest gains +30hp/+40ft-lbs, you can’t beat the Dinan tuner. I’ve had it for 9 months and have loved it but now I’m itching for more power. Oh an cost is a big difference. $199 for the Dinan tuner vs around 1k for BM3+unlock+DME removal and a couple fuel maps.
