Interesting that being a 2020 model I was hit with this recall.

Seems like a mistake. Pretty sure all M2C and CS have LTE.

I wonder if it still updates some things with 3G

It was listed as a recall. Whatever they programmed changed a few things. The touchscreen seems snappier, my M settings were wiped out. I'm convinced something happened with the font on my speedo. There are a couple other things I noticed that were different, but I don't know what was done. IStep?

I may be crazy about the speedo numbers, but you know how you see something and you can tell something isn't right? I was immediately drawn to the gauge font.

Edit: I think speedo numbers are the same. The gear shift indicator had returned.

They also performed this telematics recall at my recent dealer visit.

I just had this performed during my last free service on my '20. I too found it odd, but oh well.

It did wipe out a few things
-Radio button memory buttons
-idrive screen settings
-Removed full screen carplay

Some bimmercode changes were not touched however.

I just had this done last week on my 19 and the only positive is that BimmerCode now allows me to select full screen Apple CarPlay. Saved me from having to go the Kuba route.

No memory settings were lost with my upgrade.

Maybe the dealer was kind enough to document and set them up as before.

I suspect that this "recall" was poorly described, giving the impression that the telematics unit (or "combox") was being replaced. 2020 models should already have 4G so that shouldn't be an issue. Apparently it's a software update to the latest (and maybe final?) NBT EVO Y software level, that someone corrects some issue with communication. My late build '21 shipped with NBT EVO X, and I suspect the CS's probably got the same, maybe a slightly earlier build.
