Unfortunately with a BMW, that rules out most of the English speaking world. If BMW is there and official, you can bet your last dollar gray imports are contraband.

And I cringe at the thought of chopping any of them up for parts… although I suspect that’s what is going to happen to a lot of them.

Take a look at the Japanese used sports car market from the late 90’s to early 2k’s for reference. Carnage.

Interesting. I’m admittedly ignorant of theJapanese market. A quick search contradicted the prior poster’s claim, but I could be totally wrong.

I think I reached the end of Youtube when it came to M2 videos, leading up to my purchase (and beyond). Occasionally now I will still search for M2 videos, but they've already been watched!

The website you posted is an aggregator of cars from stealerships around the country. Stealerships most often get their cars from auction houses. That website then lists them at an even higher price. The market here is fubar that way.

Most of them are not only inflated in price by about 10~20% but are also ineligible for importation even if they are priced in USD. Furthermore, the dollar is at retarded levels agains the yen - You guys have fifty percent more buying power but that’s a moot point.

Another thing is that I have never got my cars from these places. Auction prices direct are way lower. Keep in mind, anything over 100,000km’s mileage will show a steep decline in prices because for some reason, the Japanese crap the bed thinking something is going to blow up. It’s either that or the warrantee is over, so they dump the car at a stealership and if it sits there too long, they dump it into the auction.

Mine was 130,000 when I got her. That’s why I only paid $16,000. Closest I can see on this website is this one. And even then… it’s WAY overpriced.

That snippet of 2017 LBB for $24k with only 52k miles is cheap compared to US prices.

Damn, I’m in Love with this car! Coming from old school 911 swapped 3.6L and e30v8 swapped cars to a modern piece of equipment has been a joy! I was nervous about the technology, however turning it off and enjoying it has won me over. I’m an old school guy. No nannie’s. With tech turned on it’s safe enough to explore limits and keep you out of trouble. Prost!

Not by choice! The car spent its first 6 years in Europe. It wasn't planned to be there that long but as you know, COVID happened and that changed everything. Anyway, it was always destined for Washington and I didn't want to deal with having to remove European tint to ensure compliance with WA tint laws.

The car arrived in Seattle in October and I'll have it tinted as dark as legally allowed come spring.

I have never felt the need to tint the windows on any of my BMWs. If you do tint you need to be careful that the don’t kill your amp. Lots of comments about tinters letting water short out the amp.

Yes, I've read the horror stories. I've got that cover BMW came up with installed over the amp but for the tinters, I'm planning to pull it out completely and wrapping the connectors in plastic.

I have a condition called photophobia (how ironic is that for a photographer? lol) where if I get in a situation where there is too much light my eyes start to water uncontrollably. It's not the brightness, it's the volume. I've had to pull over on the side of the road and shut my eyes for several minutes before I could drive again, so I always tint my windows medium to cut the overall light a bit.

It's not super dark, I can still see out at night, and people can see in, but it's mostly shadows.

Now with moar low. by Andrew Thompson, on Flickr
