The N55 with MPerformance exhaust in my 335i sounded much better than my M2C, but the smiles per miles in the whole package of my M2 outweigh all else.
I have driven the OG M2, M2CS - both have their own personalities and are amazing, I am just happy to own an F87 in any form, love these cars for what they represent. For me, my ‘21 M2C is everything I want in a daily, I ordered it new and have zero regrets. If I was looking a few years earlier I would have bought an OG and had zero regrets, it’s all about timing. To the OP - if you you miss the OG, life is short - don’t dump $ into something you know isn’t what you really want - and just make your way back to a nice low mileage OG. |

Oh cool, the old but but but my OG sounds better and is fast enough (it isn't, we both know it and its okay) argument along with "its so much lighter", like its a fucking Exige, lol. Yes, just over 100 pounds heavier...

Of course, but less than 1% of owners are going to do such a thing. It's a non-starter for a solution to sound.

hi guys, i've an M2 OG FBO Bootmod3 Stage2 + xHp Stage3. Currently i have the MPerformance exhaust and i have to said that the sound on an OG M2 is something special.
yes, M2 Comp is faster due to S55 but the sound and power of the OG is amazing (especially son Stage2). I really love my car, i've tested with stock M2 Comp and the performance is a little better, of course with a base Stage1 the Comp will drive faster, but hey is what do you want that matters |

BMW M marketing team out there crushing it. What’s your best lap time and on which track did you get it? I’m sure since you’re in a M2C it’s worth sharing. Last edited by ThreeStripes; 10-25-2023 at 02:39 PM.. |

I always had a theory on the sound of the M2C
The M2 is the only M car capable of this seemingly. We have an M performance muffler for the N55 M2 which allows for only 1 inlet. So why not create a Y pipe on the S55 that feeds into the M performance muffler of an N55 M2. It'd fit perfectly, already has the valve unit installed on the muffler, seems to be plug n' play. diameter isn't really compromised enough to see a big loss if any in power. I still have the muffler I planned to use in my spare bedroom but I sold the car! lol Never got to try it and I always wanted to. In short, slap a N55 M performance muffler on the m2 competition, but just create a custom Y pipe so it'll work. |

I did this 3 years ago on my m2c with full exhaust of m2 og, it is one of the best modifications I made to it. Doing the same thing but with the muffler of m performance it would make too much noise, I'm going full decat. |

to be honest that's why i titled the thread for those who have owned an OGM2 i miss that the OG can put a smile on your face even going relatively slowly, like a little spurt from 20-30 mph, you still get that sound, it makes you feel good and can turn heads i'm starting to like the comp tho 3 weeks into ownership Last edited by timchump; 10-26-2023 at 07:39 AM.. |

I don't think the comp would have much advantage at LRP, the best OG time is in the 59s and the comp would be too with a talented driver (+ same tires) but its a short track with just 1 straight, the comp will not gain nor loose anything there.
The OG will always be lighter but probably about 150-200lbs and a bit of that will be the wheels, brakes and exhaust which can be rectified. Of course engine + extra cooling will always be there and be heavier. Last edited by MooMooM2; 10-26-2023 at 10:21 AM.. |

Whomever wrote this is just an idiot.
Weight is weight, there is no muscle or fat, unless you want to consider unsprung weight muscle because it's worth more. Having said that, on a track it'd take Senna to find the time difference between an OG and an OG with 121 mostly-sprung pounds added to it. For most guys the 788M and 2NH brake packages are just extra weight garbage, but for the few that are going to swap the wheels with something lighter and need the extra fade resistance with better pads, they're fine. Like tires, buy the car that suits your needs, not the car that is supposedly "better" because "better" is a subjective term, not an objective term, which means it's up to the individual to decide. |

I am still blown away by how much print, video, and time has been spent on the sound of the OG. People act like the heavens opened up and Gods' choir started singing. While sound is entirely subjective, I wouldn't rate in in the top 20 car exhaust sounds.
I'll go back to my corner now. |

You don't hear the same conversations about the N54 vs N55 or N55 vs B58, etc, but most everyone not under the influence of confirmation bias agrees that the N55 sounds the best of all. That is until the S65 comes to the party. I adore the sound of my N55 with just a catted downpipe and tune, but HATE the long fart sound on throttle lift in gear. Having said that, I literally chose the OG over the Comp for the sound. |

There are many other engines that sound much better, like the S85 or any other Ferrari V8 or V12. However! The N55 sounds sooo good and the S55 doesn’t! The Comp looks really good and drives Well but, but, but but…. It sounds like a crappy Old lawn Mover AND for ME that ruins everything and the whole experience! No S55 owner can honestly say that their car sounds good?! #Liars Sorry if my English grammar isn’t perfect :/ / Filip
