DIY Guides:
http://forums.teetk.com/threads/diy-...ights.1912071/ http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1383466 https://www.1erforum.de/threads/f22-....243355/page-4 (German) NOTE: There are some discrepancies between these guides with a) the exact coding options needed and b) if you need to splice the 3 brake wires. I have parts on order and will be working on proving a 'plug and play' adapter loom to avoid the need to modify the existing loom. UPDATE A: I was able to get my hands on a UK RHD LCI to read the coding BMW have use. The link below is to a spreadsheet detailing the differences from the pre LCI vs LCI: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gof7lh1sg8...-0.2.xlsx?dl=0 THESE VALUES HAVE BEEN APPLIED TO MY PRE-LCI AND CONFIRMED AS WORKING UPDATE B: The 6 pin connector used on the LCI is a TE MCON 1.2 connector commonly available from your electronics supplier of choice. Unfortunately I have not been able to find the OE vendor for the 8 pin connector used on the pre LCI. I can buy the female connector from BMW but tracking a suitable male plug down is proving rather time consuming. Is anyone is able to assist in identifying the EO vendor? In the end I abandoned the idea of a loom and choose to follow the directions above and re-pinned the existing wires to the new connector. I can confirm you DO NOT need to cut the three brake wire and solder them together. It will work with the BFD wire. I choose to remove the two remaining wires from the original plug, tape up the pins and seal them from the element in some adhesive heat shrink. I'm about to do this but I've seen two methods with wiring, one guy wires 3 together, the other leaves 2 on the old connector and wraps it up.
Which is right? Last edited by BSMF87; 08-23-2017 at 03:10 AM.. |

On my March built M2, I left the old connector and another small black connector (cars from Nov16 on) taped up.

I went for option 2 as it would be 100% reversible should there be any warranty issues. I can confirm the LCI lights do work with only the single BFD wire.

Quote:
I have installed the lci lights in my M2 but I can not find anyone, dealers included, who know how to code the LED on. Is there a specific software you have used? Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Yes, you can use bimmercode
The 3061 stuff you can do in easy mode The 3062 codes require you to go into expert mode and change them there Last edited by AndrewC1989; 11-09-2017 at 12:28 PM.. |

Slighty off topic, but I ordered pre LCI Euro tail lights from ECS, now I have amber rear turn signals. Plug and play. ECS's website states they don't fit M2, but a visit to realoem.com stated otherwise, same part number.

With the LCI tail lights, can you replace the bulb for the reverse light to an LED? If so, what kind? And what coding would be necessary? Thanks!
Surprised that the reverse light isn't an LED. |

Coding: REM 3061 RFS_L_KALTUEBERWACHUNG /nicht_aktiv REM 3061 RFS_L_WARMUEBERWACHUNG /nicht_aktiv REM 3061 RFS_L_IS_LED /aktiv REM 3061 RFS_R_KALTUEBERWACHUNG /nicht_aktiv REM 3061 RFS_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG /nicht_aktiv REM 3061 RFS_R_IS_LED /aktiv Or if you have bimmercode you can use easy mode and just set the warm and cold monitoring to not active and set the bulbs to LED. Just go to the rear electronic module and it's all there. Keep in mind they are polarity specific so plug them in and check if they work (before reinstalling the tail light), and if not flip them around 180 degrees. Also make sure you tape off the area around the tail lights because you could easily scratch the bumper when you're removing them. Last edited by AndrewC1989; 11-24-2017 at 10:22 AM.. |

Those LED's you linked, since they're black can you see that from outside once installed? Thanks!
