Im doing it for the peace of mind from little nics from road debris, and the super ease of cleaning the car. You dont even need soap - water and a towel - dosent even need to be microfiber! Auto healing film for the win!

Im kidding - i use soap and microfiber towel - just for the shine.

Hi, this might have been me. One minor correction is no A pillar. I did full front including hood, fenders, bumper, mirror, door cup, rocker panels, and rear luggage area. It's my first experience with PPF but so far love it!

As if a respray will ever look the same. And, you have to deal with progressive chips until you feel there are too many. $6k may be an extreme, however, $2K +/- achieves a dramatic protective environment where you are not trying to decide WHEN to re-spray.

Understood... PPF will develop awful swirls just like paint so beware.

It self heals, like wolverine - how is that event possible? Xpel Ultimate for the win.

It selfs heals small film breaks within certain parameters. It does not self heal swirls. If in doubt reach out to Xpel, they will tell you the same thing.

Ok thanks, what happens if bumper gets damaged or scraped? Do we need to re-apply Xpel then? Looks like money wasted then, correct?

I'll go up to $2000, but not a penny more. After that my common sense kicks in and I ain't spending more than 5% of the cars value on paint protection.

They did a great job and was easy to work with. If I ever run into you some day, more than welcome to check out how it looks and held up on the car.

Generally I agree with you, and I never pay to have it done. However, I bought a used 911 (993) with it, and it did help protect the paint although the edges started to come up, getting a nasty looking dirt line. My M2 had it dealer installed (it was a dealer halo car, with every option possible thrown at it) and I'm glad it's there, although I sometimes wish I had the cash instead.

Insurance is supposed to return the car to the state that it was in before the accident. So your insurance (or the insurance of the guy/gal that hit you) should cover a new Xpel application for the repainted areas.

It's a bit higher than the quote I received when shopping around. They did seem reputable so I doubt there is any issue there.

If someone said I could get my whole car done for 600 not 6000 I'd probably pass still. Don't worry about it so much, I feel like half the people that spend the money on this stuff get rid of their cars 2 years after ownership.
Agree with you. I had mine done in Denver at a fraction of that price for 2/3 coverage plus ceramic coating.

Just took the car out today for a drive, and even though I heard rocks spraying the undercarriage, rockers, and fenders, I did not have to sweat the wear and tear on a brand new car.

Will you be at the next cars and coffee?

Well worth it, had it partial front on my M2 and after multiple track days it was still looking pristine.

I am doing full front this time with the M2C.

Mine seems to be holding up really well! I am careful when I wash, but less so on the PPF surfaces because they seem to be able to take more abuse without issue so far.

I am getting a quote for $2100 for a custom install of front part:
full hood
full front fenders
mirrors
bumper
headlight
**Using Xpel Ultimate

Does this price sound good? I might add the rear fenders as well and may increase the cost to close to $3,000.

This is the company's website:
http://adonisdetail.com/

They have really good reviews on yelp.
I did Xpel Ultimate Plus
full hood
full front fenders
mirrors
bumper
headlight
Rocker Panels
Bigger factory panel covering infront and above the rear wheel (not extending to the line)
behind the rear wheel
luggage area

5 window Xpel prime XR tint in 20%

all for $2200 took 2 days, got the car back yesterday.
Anybody on the Central Coast interested contact me, no affiliation just a happy customer.

I agree PPF is much more resistant to swirling when compare to paint. I only mentioned the possibility as I have seen film with terrible swirling. That said, the owner(s) likely abused the film.

Xpel's webpage reads that even swirling is self-healing so my assertion otherwise was incorrect. However, an Xpel customer service rep told me otherwise.
