I don’t know, you might be right. I’d just do what Michelin says for F82 if going 255/275. The only clear thing is that non star is the recommendation for PS4S for 245/265.

I've tried a bunch of different Michelins over the years with my M2s (PS4S, PSS, star specs, etc.) and never had any bad experiences with them. But I will say that the tires I'm running right now are the absoulte best for this platform: 255/275 Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02. They're cheaper than the Michelins and better than the PS4S (star or non-star)

The ECS02 is a direct copy of the PS4S, and quite a bit newer, so they should be better; Michelin set the benchmark and Conti copied it. Comparing apples to apples, the PS5S will probably kill the Conti 02 in every category beyond price.

I'm sure the PSS5 will kill the ECS02 but it'll be forever before it comes to the US market in non-OEM specs (or even star specs). For now, ECS02 is the way to go for street use!

I thought the original Conti ECS wasn't as good as the PSS. It was kind of softer and less sporty. I would be surprised if the ECS02 is actually better than the PS4S subjectively even though I know the early tests show it to be. The Michelin sidewall just looks better anyway .

You seriously upgraded to the dream setup. Better get those FI-Rs, Cup 2s, and CCBs noted on your insurance lol.

I tried to add insurance value to my policy, but it only helps if I make the mistake (would be incredibly rare), so I said forget it.

Comprehensive doesn't cover vandalism or theft? Yeah, definitely won't help if you crash it, but I was thinking more of those.

The M2 has become like my Lotus. I drive it, then clean it, then park it in the garage. It never gets parked or stays outside unless I'm right beside it. With the exception of once a year when I go to the Dragon, but then it's covered by the hotel's insurance.

I’m not sure I am willing to gamble but I need to figure this out

I need to mount my new wheels and I need to make a decision pretty soon

I am so used to the characteristics of Michelin tires, I am very use to their breakpoint.

What are your thoughts on me running a MPS4S 255/275 set versus a 245/265 (stock size) ?
I’m still on stock suspension currently
However, I probably will go to M performance suspension by the end of spring.

Good stuff… What do you specifically like about them?

I am running 255/275/35/19 combo. I prefer them over stock size. What size are your new wheels? If they are 19X9.5 and 19X10.5 I would definitely use the larger size.

My BBS CI-Rs are 19X9.5 and 19X10.5.

You wont believe the difference in steering feel and cornering.

- Thus far, wear characteristics have been better than the Michelins (and I slide my car every 5 seconds lol)
- stiffer sidewall, better steering feel
- not any louder or more uncomfortable than the Michelins
- definitely go 255/275: looks way better with more sidewall and the car feels more planted when in the canyons. I also have no issues sliding my car all over the place even with the 255/275 ECS02

Def run the 255/275 over 245/265 - don't really know why BMW decided to under-tire the M2 from factory (well I do but i'm just making a point). More grip but not so much that you lose the breakaway character of the car.

I am leaning towards the larger size setup

It’s $100 more but there is a $110 rebate currently, so it’s a wash cost wise

BMWCCA also has a 15% rebate on Michelin tires until the end of the year. https://www.bmwcca.org/membershipbenefits/discounts
