Not official. Still want to see what was dropped to achieve the car with the mirrors/seats at that estimated price. And I'll also go as far as to say it doesn't include destination which would bring the price to $59,895

Regardless, at this price point whether it’s $59k MSRP base price or with some seats, mirror, brakes, BMW needs to rethink how much the price has gone up from being the “entry level M”
There’s only a few loyal handful that would pay that price and it looks like demand isn’t going to be nearly as strong as the early adopters. They should have released the competition as a base model with S55 and without the goodies. Then they could have put everything into a CS model and made made further weight reduction to charge $80k Right now, it’s kind of like a carrot on a stick in front of you with the competition model in its base form but a menu of items in your face to actually build together what many wanted originally. They got too greedy and kept jacking up the price and didn’t get all their model updates timed correctly Last edited by boostspoon; 05-15-2018 at 10:22 PM.. |

I estimated the M2C would be $10k over what I paid for my 2017. I think I'll be right on target. Destination, color option, DCT, seats, etc. It will be close to $66k out the door assuming you can actually obtain one w/o ADM. Personally, I don't believe the M2C will have the same widespread appeal as the 2016/17. Most that wanted an M2 already purchased one. It will be interesting to see what the production/sale numbers are for 2019 compared to 2017/18. But then again, I could be wrong....
Correction: according the article, comp seats will be standard.

I gotta think half the reason the M2 is so popular is because of the value proposition it represented at just-over-$50K. At around $60K, even with the S55, the value proposition isn't as strong IMHO. I'd hate to see this car go away because BMW got greedy with it and took its initial strong sales to mean that the demand would still be there even at a significantly higher price. |

$60k is still a bargain for all that it gives you.

I knew BMW was going make the M2 their cash cow when I saw how well it was selling.. I am not mad at them; I actually respect the hustle..
However, at 60k, sales tax and factory options to be named later, you're tipping 70k. Sorry, but I'm here for the bargains.. If I had unlimited funds, it would not be a entry-level M car but a twin turbo, 7-speed (manual), 911 Porsche.. I still like the M2C for what it is but at that price, I'll wait until the hoopla dies down and maybe then I could clip some coupons and get one at a reasonable price.. |

This would be a 14% increase from the original 2016 M2.

First of all, 2018 M2 isn't priced "just over $50K". It's at $55K. I don't understand why people keep comparing 2016 MY pricing to 2019 MY pricing. Even if this car had carried everything from the previous MY (same N55 engine, same options, same standard equipment etc), it was still going to receive a small price increase. Initially, most people claimed there was no way this car was going to be priced below $65K. In fact, some believed it was going to cost more than an M3/M4. Now, BMW priced it at $59K (let's assume this is true) and yet there are still too many people complaining about the pricing. We don't even know what standard equipment this price includes. Even if this price doesn't include the seats, bigger brakes, or the wheels, it's still a pretty good value considering the fact that you are getting the S55 and it's 2019 MY (not 16, 17, or 18. Prices tend to increase over the years for every MY).

Also, for someone like me who never had a luxury vehicle (2009 Mazdaspeed 3 GT here), all that standard stuff is already gravy on top. My #1 must have in a car is advanced lighting system. My car has HID, and I refuse to have plain old halogen ever again. Any word on an actual button to disable auto-rev matching? Or do people still have to bimmercode it? |
