Shocking, OP owns a 2017 and prefers it! No bias there.

I would hate it too if I had just purchased a 2017 and one year late BMW made huge improvements.
The price has gone up significantly though, so find solace in that. The original M2 was under-priced, and I think BMW has realized that.

(Hello all - I have a M2 Comp on order!)

It's well known that the S55 engine sounds much better when warm, not on a cold start, as the OP posted.
That said, I have heard this engine in the M2 Competition and I think it sounds very good! And my main ride is a C63 507 Edition, so I know a great engine sound when I hear it.

Can't wait to run into one of these at the track. Problem is, most will never see the track, especially up here, just at coffee meets

Looks great, imo. Thanks. OP

Oh yeah! What a difference. I think the stock sounds good, but this is a different league.

I will be ordering one for sure if BMW changed the auto rev-match setting. I want to be able to toggle the rev-matching without having to turn off the stability control.
It's basically a whole new class of car. This is not some mid-cycle refresh! Everything has been improved, basically.

People with the 1st gen M2 at least can be happy they paid a lot less. The price has gone up by $9000 in Canada, similarly equipped. That's significant, an 11% increase. From $71k for a 2018 to $79k.

Do I think it's worth it? Heck YA! But $8k is $8k.

In fairness it was cold and not under load and no MPE. Maybe with MPE it will transform it but I doubt it.

As for seats just like in the F80/2 the left thigh bolster digs into the bottom of my thigh. Why? Because my left leg sits on top of that very rigid bolster in order to rest on the dead pedal and also to operate clutch. Pretty seats but not for me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and declare the 2016-17 cars the most desirable. I didn't love the LCI model but still better than this Comp. I'm holding onto my 2017 with glorious N55 for as long as I can.

I have no horse in this race (pre-LCI, LCI or Competition; I think they're all awesome), but always have to chuckle when I see folks fawning over the N55.

Not because it doesn't deserve praise - it does, it's a great power plant - but because it feels like it was only a few years ago that it considered a downgrade from the N54. How times change!

Now I know why the official videos was shot in a wear house for the echo or playing music of the engine note. It's funny how the official launch in Beijing sounded very different to this real life video.

Interesting how we all get along given we all love the brand!! I’d love to see a forum launched with two different manufacturers and see what the fallout would be.... BMW vs AUDI. Now that would come with a health warning

I am 6'1 and about 200lbs, never had an issue with the side bolsters on my f80. Took semi long drives and did not find the seats to be uncomfortable. I had carbon structure seats, after 3 years the seats still looked new with out a single wrinkle on the side bolster. But then again I have chicken legs, so maybe that had something to do with it not bothering me. If I were to get the M2c I would definitely spec the upgraded seats over the standard ones.

Because the previous generation m3's all had these same characteristics but with screaming high reviving n/a engines and all sounded absolutely amazing!

The Phytonic Blue on our M40i takes on a variety of shades and we like that. But it's nothing like my Tanzanite Blue M3!!

Great for folks in line for the M2C as they can always dip to a P car since it's becoming overpriced for what it is. Anything at $70-75k+ OTD can get you more.

M2 owners should hope there's demand for the M2C on the second-hand market. M2C will always be chosen over the M2 at the same price.
No question. M2 resale values just dropped. Sucks but it is what it is.

Yeah, it is like night and day. Active Autowerkes says the single path exhaust synchronizes the exhaust coming out of the twin turbos, smooths it out. Not sure why anyone buys any other brand of aftermarket exhaust for the M3/M4.
