Single Exit Exhaust

Hello All,

After a bit of experience with the OEM exhaust and the MPE, I've decided it may just be time to try out a single exit. I don't see a purpose in 4 tips as it's effectively just a single tube off of the turbo. Less weight and complications seems like a win-win. This is for a multipurpose track/ street car.

Has anyone done this on the OG? Curious to see what you've done/ how it is routed. I may just give the fab guy a little creative freedom. Feel free to post videos, all I can seem to find on YouTube is N55s with aggressive burble tunes and I've got no real interest in that.

I'm also adding a v-band to allow quick swaps between my single exit and the OEM exhaust.

This said, my MPE will likely be up for sale (for cheap) in the near future, lmk if anyone has interest there. (Located in MD, pickup only)

What’s your objective here? Better sound? Different look? I am, slightly confused as to how one arrives at the desire for a single exit exhaust on a F87.

I mean, what muffler are you and your fab guy thinking?

It sounds good, it's lighter and cheaper.

Consider going with a larger diameter - though it may not make too much of a difference.

Really, the one-to-four exhaust setup is a little cheesy to me. There's no benefit or reason to it aside from aesthetics and maybe ability to control sound.

Less weight is a positive. I'm sure sound quality also improves.

There will be no muffler, no reason for one. The v-band allows me to swap to the OEM muffler when I'd like less noise.

Completely agree. Just need an extra 1000rpm and then I can live out my RB26 dreams

I'm currently running a catless DP with the MPE so limited on restrictions. What's the "pinch point" on this exhaust, if you happen to know?

Super interesting. I’d enjoy it if you shared what you end up doing and how it sounds. Have you settled on a material?

For sure! Have to do some measuring and ordering with the fab guy. For the purpose of cheap and easy, I'd just stick to stainless.

In theory, it'll be like 5 bolts and a plug to swap back to valve control with the other muffler.

I don't know/ trust any of the local guys to work titanium, though that is tempting.

If all goes as planned, selling my MPE will pay for these "activities"

The turbo lol, but seriously, you can't go too large. So at least 3" and a good muffler and you're good to go.

Lmao fair. I'm dead set on keeping this turbo stock so that's fine.

Yep! They use the "can" style muffler commonly seen on older JDM cars
