ABS light recall
Dealer set up an appointment for a recall for the ABS light in the cluster. Said they need 3 hours for the recall. Couldn’t find any information on this recall. Anybody else get this done? 2021 M2C with 20k miles.

I think there's an official bmw website. You can look up recall by vin. If you google "bmw recall tool" it'll definitely show up.

U.S. here. Oct 2020 build, MY 2021. My VIN still says 0 open recalls on both the NHTSA website and the BMW website.

I checked the US link above and returned 0 issues, when I checked on the Canadian site it found the recall.

Yeah, just got a notice a well - the ABS warning light doesn't light up when first starting the car and apparently it is now mandated it does?
My M2 is coded for carplay etc - so concerned if this could affect the previous coding. I know my ABS light comes on when activated (fun in the snow!). So, I'm going to snack on popcorn a while and see how this plays out for a bit.

Is this literally just the ABS light itself?
For those searching it is Recall Campaign 2021-777 (62 80 21RC) ABS Tell-tale. It looks like there was a thread on this that got deleted for some reason.

I received that letter from bmw too
2019 m2c It's a Canadian regulation The recall is simply that the abs light doesn't show at start up.... that's it If you have a problem with abs, it will tell you in the screen recall or not...so the the recall is no tabout security or else it's just to light up the abs light on start up... For me, i absolutely don't care since this recall is useless and i don't want any software update in my car |

Regarding the ABS light, I don’t think it comes on every time it is activated. Many years ago, when cars had just come out with it, it would flash to let you know it’s kicked in. My guess is it only shows if the system is not working. Are you sure you’re not mistaking this with the DTC light? I intentionally got my AVS to kick in yesterday and I don’t recall seeing any lights flashing. =========================== Does anyone have a picture of where it would show up? There must be other countries in the world that already have this regulation. Here’s a picture of my cluster on startup. . |

I think I found it… Must be a version with one or both of the ABS related lights.
The “BRAKE” light in Canada is represented by the symbol with the ! in the circle, in case some of you don’t have it. . |

I love how NHTSA requires the stupid "BRAKE" warning light here in the US, because apparently we are too stupid to understand the brake symbol used literally everywhere else in the entire world. What a PITA for mfr's to have to deal with stupid regs like this. How are symbols for stuff like airbags and seat belts OK, but a brake symbol isn't? Who decides stuff like this??

I got my recall done last week. Lost all my iDrive memory button settings. Not a big deal to me. Easy enough to reset. Some other options like driver profile not popping up when the car is started had to be reset.

I had the ABS light recall done and the Nav update locked and they had to get someone from BMW to remote in a reset everything. Lost the carplay, etc. Literally, the recall just has the ABS light up during startup... Took it back to the guy who programmed the car and was gracious enough to restore everything back to (my) normal for me no charge.

Dealer did the ABS recall as part of scheduled service. Lost my iDrive memory settings and had to reinstall full screen CarPlay. But, at least some of my coding still seems to be there. Have to go through it all.
