2020 M2 - normal & Competition models?

Hello,

I have made up my mind that I’m going to buy an M2 in the next year. I am looking to see if anyone has details on the models available.

2018 - a normal M2 model was offered then discontinued for 2019 model year
2019 - the only option was the Competition - I’m personally not a fan of this car and configuration. But that’s just personal preference

My reason for creating this thread is to find out if there will be 2 variants of the M2 for 2020 or if there will be a repeat of 2019 with the Competition and a potential release of a CS model?
This will help me determine my plans, maybe I can save and buy a 2016-2018 which ‘hopefully’ hasn’t been driven hard and put away wet.

Thank you!!

There will be no more OG M2s. 2020 model for sure is the M2 Competition. There is a high probability that there will also be an M2 CS.

Hope that helps you.

Dan has nailed it.

Buying new it's only M2C available or the to be released end of year perhaps or early next M2CS.

Anything else is approved used.

Thank you, that helps with my planning and searching.

In my market (Canada), the Competition is pushing close to the price of an M3, I just don't see the value being so close (approx $6k) when looking at a base model

While the M3 is still available, it has been out of production for 6 months. Look to the higher priced M4 now.

There are massive incentives on leftover 2018 M3s right now, especially the M3 CS. For a while earlier this year, it was cheaper to lease a $105K M3 CS versus an M2C for example. Might still be the case. BMWNA is trying to help dealers clean out inventory of the 2018 M3s which went out of production last year.

If you want an F80, buy it *now* as these deals are helping move leftover inventory quickly.

Not completely accurate. There's still some "new" 2018s on dealer lots that you can buy at a steal.

Yeah the M2C is not good value in Canada at all. The reason I got into an M2 was because of the value compared to the M3/M4. If the next gen M3/M4 come in at the same prices as last gen, M2C's are going to collect dust up here until 2022.
