I wonder the story behind this totaled M2 put up for sale (copart)

https://www.copart.com/lot/26605059

The shock on the front tire looks like it was sheared in half. Rear suspension looks destroyed too from how low it's sitting. Drive's side exhaust exits are missing. Damage all over, including roof and trunk. Passenger side looks like it rubbed up against a wall for a long time to wear through the paint like that, or was on it's side rubbing against the road.

I guess maybe initially hit the front driver's side, causing the car to spin, then it rolled over onto the passenger side. The sideways force before roll over could've ripped the suspension apart.

Definitely the worst damaged I've seen on an M2.

Let's just say I live pretty nearby to where this car is at, does anyone here know if we can grab parts from this car?

Its an insurance auction, if you buy the whole car, you can take whatever parts you want

When you get the car before you get your license.

Its difficult to recreate how a vehicle was damage. My guess is it spun around and ended up off-road.

Probably was on some worn out tires with the traction off. This guy that works at a bodyshop told me that most of the BMWs that comes in with spin-out damage, the rear tires were usually gone.

No, you have to buy the whole car. A parts yard will probably buy it and strip it for inventory.

Yea, I was trying to see the condition of the rears but can't really tell from the pictures. You can see tread on the outer of the tires but can't tell how much is there.

Kinda wish I saw these pics before April Fool's. Anyone with Mineral Grey M2 can send this pics to their wives to freak them out lol. I might do that sans April Fool's to someone.

Couple of options:
  • bald / worn out tires;
  • hydroplaning with semi-slicks such as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires;
  • impairment of driver or momentary lapse of reason ("a glazed look and I was on the road to ruin");
  • running out of skill in 'hero mode' (likely with safety nannies inactive for street cred claim to fame);
  • driving in 'He-Man mode' trying to defy the rigid Laws of Nature;
  • high-speed 6MT miss-shift with rev-match going nuts + thrown out of the saddle;
  • wrong tire pressure;
  • SATNAV guidance error;
  • ignorance that in the UK people drive on the left;
  • selfie or social media antics whilst driving;
  • distracted by zapping through playlist or Apple CarPlay hassle;
  • carried away at the expense of concentration by enthusiastically singing along songs like "A Day In The Life" (The Beatles), "Smells Like ///M Spirit" (Nirvana) or "Riders on the ///M" (The Doors);
  • permanent 'blue stripe' eyesight disorder as a result of the 12hr marker featuring on the M2 M Performance Parts Steering Wheel;
  • distracted by looking to no avail for the button or iDrive setting of Adaptive M Suspension or rev-match on/off toggle or Active Sound Design on/off toggle or Head-Up Display;
  • distracted by new M2 CS info surfacing on Bimmerpost raising confusing existential questions such as "as the M2 CS is bound to become a future classic, though most enthusiasts seem not to realize this yet, should I consider trading in my original M2 for an M2 CS ?";
  • distracted by the 'significant other' in the passenger seat performing NSFW kinda stuff;
  • "it's complicated";
  • the imaginary cat or pelican crossing the road;
  • some of the above combined.
Or what about simply "Pilot error - I screwed up".
