FWIW the guy in the pick up (in the left lane) was going about 80 in a 100 zone. I couldn't pass him on the left because that is an HOV lane and I was alone in the car, so rather than ride his ass until he moved, I simply went around him. Not that big of a deal here, but I have come to understand that in Europe they pull you out of the car and shoot you on the side of the road for this.

I assume that he was going 80 kph and not mph. Yes in Europe people move over and let people pass. Passing on the right does upset them but they don't carry guns there so yelling is what you would normally get.

People don't even really get mad here for passing on the right, they certainly aren't going to shoot at you.

Now if you cut them off, or tailgate them, that's a whole different story.

On Toronto area highways people are passing in whatever lane is possible.

Primarily coz jackasses think it's kosher to be doing the Speedlimit in the left lane or in a lot of cases even lower.

The ones that go straight into the left lane once merging on the highway and do 90 deserve a special mention too!!

There are a lot of Teslas around here. I have seen them clogging up the fast/passing lane while driving in in autopilot mode and texting on their phones.

if you daily drive in a major city...the fast lane is actually the right lane since people like the camp out in the left lane.
