10,000 miles with my 2018 LBB M2
I purchased my MT M2 with about 1500 miles and just had my first oil change. I can honestly say that I love this car. In fact, it is my favorite car that I have owned, topping my CLA45 AMG, Porsche Cayman S, BMW i8, and Lotus Evora.
As far as style goes, those cars appeal more to me, but driving the M2 is a wonderful experience. I can list many pros but I would like to list some cons (don't get me wrong, I love the car, but no car is perfect) -Tiny gas tank. I don't commute to work daily but this still drives me crazy. I fill up the car way too much if I take a decent sized trip. -Oil change cost. This is my first M car and its a minor gripe but my oil change was $130. My auto technician (not a BMW dealer) didn't have the BMW M oil so he had to use another approved brand (Redline, maybe?) and he said it was a couple of dollars more than the BMW oil. -First gear can have a mind of its own. Most of the times shifting is simple and no hiccups but every once in awhile I have a not so smooth shift out of first. -Idrive randomly jumps around. I took my car in for the recall when my Idrive and dash went blank, and it still every so often starts doing crazy things. -Thin paint. As many people have said, the paint seems to be really thin and prone to damage. I did get paint protection on the front but still worry about the rest of the car (doing the whole car was too pricey for me at the time). Love this car!! |

Could you point out a bit why the M2 is a better than a cayman S? Do you mean a 981 or the 718 cayman? I’d be interested to read your thoughts on these 2 cars in comparison...

Just my 2 p (or 2 c). I do have both, an Evora S and a brand new M2 LCI, still breaking in. It is maybe too soon to judge but I do prefer the Evora, as the car having the edge on ride, communication, compliance and power delivery. Horses for courses, I guess.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your M2! I'm really at the beginning of my journey with my M2, having gotten mine end of March. Just tried out launch control, which is friggin awsome! What a blast! I had to wait until I got my 1200 mile service, then every time I took the M2 out, it was either crowded, or there was heavy traffic, but for whatever reason, I couldn't try out launch control My son returned home from his first year at University of Oregon, and he and I went out driving. We came upon a spot that had six lanes, no driveways or perpendicular streets leading to it for a full block, and very light traffic, or at times none at all, and decided that this was the perfect place to give "launch control" a try! Full brake, stomp on the throttle, and car races to 4,000 rpm. Use the cruise control to dial in the RPM's you want to take off at (we tried 3,000 RPM's...) take your foot off the brake, and the car blasts forward, shifting gears automatically at 7,000 rpms! It really throws you back into your seat, as the car gives a short shimmy before launching forward! We returned the next day to do it again! Anyways... as you said, the M2 is just such a great, fun car to drive! I've owned corvettes, a Porsche 928, Lotus Esprit... and this is perhaps the most fun I've had with any car! Enjoy it! |

I had a black exterior, black/red with carbon fiber interior, with black wheels and red calipers. It was a beauty. Here are some pics of my cars, the CLA45, Lotus Evora and Cayman S. |
