Only but letting GTS go and even thinking of getting back to E90/92 m3 confuse me...I have a E90 M3 for 6 years and spent 6 months with a 991.1 base (same ingredients but a lesser variant to GTS) in 2015. 991.1 is way superior in every way unless you like wheel spin and day to day practicality. S65 feels special yes, but doesn't change the fact it's no good by today's standard - it's weak down low and isn't strong enough up top either...
The 911 is a better drivers car, period. But the idea of putting $50k back into investments was appealing. Plus I think the 991.1 GTS depreciation will start to slide in the next 16 months as they come off warranty, etc. Also, I have to admit, it didnt have the "epic top end" that the GT3 will have or the "special occasion" drive like a F430 or R8 that I'm seeking.

I can always get back into one. Or try something different.

Can't disagree with anything you stated.

Great writeup and perspective and comparisons. I sort of cracked up on your "look at me" factor. I've had an M235i for 2+ yrs and have only had a couple folks ask about it. One of them thought I bought an M badge and put it on the trunk. So yea does not get the looks that my E46 M3 got.

Then again it's quicker that it looks and hopefully someday I'll be able to move up to an M2. Seeing all the cool cars you've had and now in an M2 has convinced me that it might be time to search the used M2 market. My M235i has depreciated more than I expected. I paid 40K for a 1 yr old car with 9K on it and it's worth like 28-30k already. Oh well, sort of a stepping stone.

Those 991 GTS's make my head swivel but like you say it's a 100K decision. Ha.

I'll be interested in what you think of the Dinan exhaust with resonator delete vs. the MPE. The Dinan combo is actually cheaper this time, but I like the look of the MPE better.

Symbol Total Gain*%
NVDA 1,087.04%

The gain on the shares I sold would have been WAY higher than 1087% The amount of money I could have made holding until now, boggles the mind.

That's okay, I thought my brother was crazy when he tried to tell me to buy Ethereum at $38 per coin. That's 3421% compared to ATH or 2263% now post "crash". That's why I lurk M2 forums instead of post pics of my GT3 on Rennlist.

How do you compare the E92 ZCP with the M2? I have looked at both. Does either one feel more like a true sports car to you? I drove an M2 at M school and liked it, but the track is different from the street.

Other than the rod bearing concerns, I keep hearing the 6MT sucks on the E9x M3. How do you compare it to the M2?

Thanks!

Similar in term of sport car feel. Though M2 is slightly more capable on track and so much more alive on street.

MPE is more eventful, louder, and a bit more drama. Then you can open the flaps.

Dinan is deeper, a bit more reserved, has a very different sound.

Neither blows me away, but adds a little spice to the M2.

This thread is a great example of why I read these forums. Very interesting information. Thanks Damage. I had a very highly option 14 C4S with power kit, essentially a GTS. Great car but I also wrestled with the investment in it.

I found running the S65 or S85 to the redline to be epic. Ripping over 8k rpm on the right back roads is a very special experience that you cannot get in many cars anymore. The sound of the intake. My M2 certainly doesnt have it. Even the GTS didnt have the top end mania, so it always left me wondering / wanting a 991 GTS for the higher redline.

The E92 would be my long term keeper. The M2 for a DD, 5 day a week car. But the E92 w akra for those special drives to get out a let the V8 rip when the need arises. Plus you can pick up something decent for around $30k. Doesnt break the bank.
