Production for my car set for January! :)

Just received an email from BMW Customer Care International Direct and Special Sales, good news!!

"Thank you for having chosen a product from our company. Attached you can find your order confirmation with all details
concerning your vehicle order. Please carefully verify that the order is complete.

In addition, we have scheduled a tentative date for the production of your vehicle. The expected production month of your car is January 2016. The vehicle will be manufactured to the highest quality standards at one of our production plants. Of course, we will contact you again once your car has been manufactured."

So then I hopefully have the car in March.

I'm little confused here. Since it basically takes 40 hours to build a BMW (about 1 week). To build the car from start to finish.

I thought the M2's will be released no later than April 2016? Or is the European Market deliveries will be sooner?

So the car will be built in January and it will sit at some storage lot 2.5 months collecting dust until mid April?

My order is also added for January but as no allocations are released yet it is just a date without merit. Without a status with an actual production week it is just sales BS unfortunately.

Dealer demos are produced in February so under no circumstances should customer cars be made before that.

"Based on our experience, the average transport time amount is up to 8 weeks until the vehicle will reach the country of final destination. If you have chosen a vehicle delivery in the BMW Welt, please refer to the according information you will receive. After the transportation to your delivering dealer and the preparation of your vehicle (pre-delivery inspection) your dealer will arrange an appointment with you for a hand over."

Thats what else it said in the email....So should have the car in March based on the email.

The bearer of bad news!
Ask for a production week (PW). When you have that you know for sure, maybe special sales get super special treatment too and get first in line.

Hopefully I get more emails from them, and with a PW...If/when I do, I'll post it. I have no idea if special sales have the priority...But I can always hope..

What is this BMW Customer Care International Direct and Special Sales? Any advantage of ordering from them than via local dealer?

That's an long time for delivery. It takes 8 weeks for a vehicle to reach California from Germany. Sweden is only a 20 hr drive from Munich.

No deliveries of customer M2 cars prior to April 16, 2016.

If you manage to get hold of an M2 at an earlier point in time, then it's a dealer demo (HEA car = Handler-Erst-Ausstattung).

In the future you will easily find out the exact build date by checking the VIN with a VIN decoder.

I find this post a bit off. I know for a fact, 100%, that builds will not commence until Feb 2016. That's when the plant becomes operational for customer deliveries.

Information I received recently is that Jan-Feb is production solidly for HEA and press cars. March is first production month for pure customer orders.

When do you expect the hea demo cars to be delivered to the (Belgian) dealers?

Will this be only a few days before the launch date of April 16, or much sooner?

Got no info yet.

Mere guess: if the M2 cars are supposed to be all spic 'n span in the showroom by Saturday April 16, 2016 (launch date), then we may reasonably assume that dealers will get hold of theirs by no later than the first half of April 2016.

Any info yet from your dealer ?

Swedish dealers(my dealer) will for sure get theirs before april 16 as they have a prod.date of week 6(feb 8-14). I would guess its similar(if not faster/ealier) for belgian dealers...so you are most likely right....
