That's pretty low. I also got into an accident due to another driver's fault. The total damage is around 6k. I don't think I'll get much, but I'm working with an attorney to get as much as I can.

I had a 3rd party handle this, I feel it should have been more but the estimates aren't too far out

In MD the diminished value is the difference between the market values of the car before and after the accident (once the repairs are done). Thinking of adding some mods with the money lol.

That's actually pretty good. DV claims are a lot more difficult than most people realize.
How much, if I may ask, did the "third party" take to represent you?

In my case there is an injury involved as well. Hence I am hoping my lawyer can get me a fair amount. I want to keep this car for a long time so the depreciation doesn't bother me in the long run, but if I were to sell or trade it in soon then I'd lose about 5k.

two months ago my wife T boned a lady who ran a red light. Damage to the our GLE 63 AMG Coupe was pretty bad, total repairs $27K.
Hired an attorney for the personal injury and repairs to our vehicle I also hired a guy who does Diminished value evaluations in Florida and is very well respected by the insurance companies. He came up with $12K and his report cited the purchase price of the car which was $110K, the recent trade values of similar cars in my area that had not been crashed and then compared those against those that had which now have carfaxs. The report was pretty extensive. My attorney has submitted our claim for the DV and he feels there should be no issue in collecting but he did say it takes a while, upwards of three months. He also said that if the insurance company delays he will then send a letter to the insured party advising that we will sue them for the DV. He says that usual gets the insurance company moving... |
