Courtesy transportation for ED
Hi all,
Quick question! I leave tomorrow to pick up my M2C on the 5th. Finally found out that the company info supplied to me re transportation, was inaccurate as BMW now have a new transportation company. I've been emailing them for the past 4 days to set up my airport to hotel ride and have yet to receive a response! Plan on calling in the AM. As a last effort. Anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you fix it. Thanks |

Have you tried calling them? If the pick up is tomorrow morning, you may not have any luck. You need to book it a decent amount ahead of time. Sorry to hear this happened to you.

I'm arriving on the 4th so I may still have a shot. Didn't find out about the change until 4 days ago... I've been emailing them for 4 days with no reply. Not sure why? I'll call them tomorrow morning. There's always the train so it's all good.👍🏻😂 |

Thanks. Where you headed after pickup? I'm in Landau for two nights... Then drop off at MUC on the 7th. If you've not been, you should. It's a beautiful island community. Enjoy the ride👍🏻 |

I am heading south to Italy. Depending on how deliver day goes, I may end up spending the night somewhere in Austria.

The new pickup company sucks, I scheduled my pickup and they never even showed and their German phone # was disconnected. I had to take a cab to the Welt and it was a mess figuring out how to get it re-reimbursed. I would call BMW NA and ask them for guidance. You may have to take a cab and get reimbursed as well. At least that way you won't be standing around for an hour trying to figure out who is picking you up.

That is strange. After some confusion with the original Sixt contact, BMW NA provided the contact info for the new company and they responded within hours, and my pickup on 5/18 from the Munich airport went without any issues. They came with a brand new 5 series and met us at the customs exit.

If you are driving into any of the slightly bigger cities in Italy, make sure you look into their congestion traffic rules (ZTL). There are some cities that we couldn't figure out how to buy a pass, and some that had a website where the payment system was only in Italian and errors out with multiple credit cards. I think there are some cities where you really can't get into without application weeks ahead. On the other hand, you could just decide to screw it and drive right in. You may or may not get a fine eventually. Italy is a strange place where some rules don't apply. We were in Maranello for a Ferrari factory tour and couldn't find adequate parking and got desperate, so I just parked it in a 60 min limit zone. I was quite worried about getting a ticket or being towed, but the guys at Ferrari said they have never seen a cop giving out tickets. I parked there for 5 hours and it was fine. On the autostrada, they warn you ahead of time where the radar speed detection occur, so the locals do 160-180kph between those points and just slow down to 130 kph right before.

One more thing about driving into Italy is wheel locks. Unless you will be parking in a secured hotel lot overnight, you might want to consider buying a set of wheel locks at the Welt and have them install it for you.

Doable though👍🏻 If possible I'd try and get the paperwork done and the tour passes tomorrow afternoon, that way you won't need to show up early to do it on the 6th. Either way, major congrats👍🏻 |
